GMC C3500 Power Steering Hose Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair the Power Steering Hose Inlet and Outlet with a Vacuum Brake Booster on GMC C3500?
A: When you start servicing the power steering lines and hoses, begin by putting a drain pan there and siphoning the fluid from the reservoir to avoid too much waste. At the fourth step, take out the power steering gear inlet hose from the power steering gear and from the pump and then remove it from the car. Route the hose in the same place, secure it to the Power Steering Pump and check it's tightened to 27 nm and do the same with the other side on the power steering gear. Work on the power steering gear outlet (3), taking it from the pump and gear to install it properly, position the clamp correctly and crimp it hard until you don't notice any openings. The power steering gear inlet hose (3) for the hydraulic Brake Booster must be tightened to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) at both its ends. Both the inlet hose (2) and the outlet hose (1) should be connected correctly and tightly as recommended (27 Nm or 20 ft. Lbs.) at each connection spot. Once the hoses are all installed, get rid of the drain pan and let out the pressure from the power steering system.
