The gearbox replacement project for large consoles starts with seat removal of the front bench seat in all cab variants except extended and crew models. Regular cab drivers along with those with extended or crew cab trucks should remove tape fasteners on the front bucket seats which hold the floor console to its base. Floor-mounted shift lever vehicles need their shift lever bezel and boot removed before proceeding. The installation process begins by lifting both the console's front and middle sections to release the retainers before completely removing the console from the motor vehicle.
