Evaporator is another mandatory component of the A/C system of GMC Canyon vehicles, which is accountable for cooling the air by expelling heat and converting the fridge refrigerant into vapor. Situated beneath the dash either near the heater core or well under it, the evaporator is composed of aluminum tubes with fins for the illustrated reason of transferring heat from air to the refrigerant. Also, the evaporator is another adsorber, thus eliminating the moisture from the air passing through it, and these gases are expelled out of the vehicle. Also referred to as the air conditioning evaporator, this component of a car's climate control system is subject to replacement because of leaks resulting from the effects of age, fluctuating temperatures, and debris buildup, despite the part being vital to creating the cool and comfortable inside environment in a vehicle.

GMC Canyon Evaporator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core on GMC Canyon?
    A:
The HVAC module assembly must be removed and its screws must be detached to divide the HVAC module assembly halves. The evaporator core must be extracted from the HVAC module assembly (1,4) after separating the HVAC module assembly into two parts. During installation of the new evaporator core one must add refrigerant oil to the core. Position the seal in between the two halves of the HVAC module assembly and follow by installing the evaporator core into the unit. Then reassemble the system back together. The installation of screws as per the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions must be followed to connect the HVAC module assembly halves with a torque of 1.9 N.m (17 lb in). The HVAC module assembly needs to be installed as the last step.
