  • Q: How to replace the thermostat housing on LLV - 2.9L and LLR - 3.7L engines on GMC Canyon?
    A: To replace the water outlet housing on llv - 2.9l and llr - 3.7 l engines, the coolant system has to be drained first. During this, make sure you tried it using the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to disconnect the radiator outlet hose from the water outlet house. Next, take off the power steering pump bracket and the water outlet housing bolts, then the water outlet housing can be removed from the Cylinder Head. Cleaning and inspection of water outlet housing and sealing surface on Cylinder Head part. Mount the new water outlet housing upon the Cylinder Head and start the bolts tightening up to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Replace the power steering pump bracket, and use the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to join the outlet hose from the radiator to the water outlet housing. Lastly, fill the cooling system and check all the sealing surfaces for leaks after starting the engine.
