To replace the Camshaft, start by removing the engine cover, the air cleaner assembly, the
Radiator, and the
A/C Condenser and Radiator grille as well. Next, remove the valve lifters,
Timing Chain, Camshaft sprocket, and balance shaft drive gear, before their can be removed finally the Camshaft. Clean and inspect the Camshaft thoroughly and also the bearings. However, if changing a Camshaft is performed, change the engine oil and
Oil Filter, and add gm engine oil supplement (GM P/N 1052367) or an equivalent to engine oil. Then, proceed to install the Camshaft in the engine block, whereas after that, the balance shaft drive gear, timing chain, and Camshaft sprocket are installed. Replace the valve lifters, the a/c bearing, the Radiator grille, and the Radiator, and fill the engine cool system, and recharge the air condition system. Lastly, replace the air cleaner assembly and cover the engine with the cover.
