    Q:
How to replace the camshaft on Chevrolet Astro? Posted by Customer
    A:
The procedure to change the Camshaft begins with engine cover and air cleaner assembly removal along with Radiator detachment and A/C Condenser separation from the Radiator grille and valve lifters and Timing Chain and Camshaft sprocket extraction for subsequent balance shaft drive gear removal and Camshaft replacement. Perform a cleaning operation on the Camshaft along with bearing inspections before building the components together. Engine oil replacement should include new filter installation before adding gm engine oil supplement (GM P/N 1052367) or equivalent to the engine oil. Users must start by installing the engine block's Camshaft as the next step involves balancing shaft drive gear and Timing Chain before completing installation with the Camshaft sprocket. Reinstall valve lifters alongside the A/C Condenser and Radiator grille and Radiator before completing the engine cooling system with fluid and restoring air conditioning pressure. Begin by installing the air cleaner assembly and the engine cover as the final steps.

    Q:
How to service and repair the camshaft on GMC Savana 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The repair and servicing process for the Camshaft begins by disconnecting the battery negative cable and continues with removal of the engine cover and air cleaner assembly and Radiator and A/C Condenser and engine cooling fan and valve lifters and Timing Chain and Camshaft sprocket and balance shaft drive gear. Use three (5/16-18 x 4.0 inch) bolts to access the front holes on the Camshaft retainer before rotating and pulling the Camshaft out of the bearings when replacing the retainer bolts so you can remove the engine Camshaft. Before installing a new Camshaft the technician should change engine oil and Oil Filter then apply gm engine oil supplement (GM P/N 1052367) or an equivalent product. Users should apply engine oil from gm p/n 12345610 or equivalent along with engine oil supplement from gm p/n 1052367 or equivalent to all Camshaft lobes and bearing journals before applying them to the bearings. Use three (5/16-18 x 4.0 inch) bolts as a support to install the engine Camshaft and afterward remove those bolts. To reuse fasteners you must apply threadlock (GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent) on the Camshaft retainer bolts before installing the retainer and its bolts to a 12 nm (106 inch lbs.) torque setting. The procedure demands installation of the balance shaft drive gear along with the Timing Chain and Camshaft sprocket and valve lifters before you can move on to installing the A/C Condenser and engine cooling fan and Radiator and perform the engine cooling system fill. Complete engine air conditioning recharging then add the engine cover while establishing the vehicle's black battery wire.

    Q:
How to replace the camshaft on GMC Savana 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the Camshaft, first, evacuate the air conditioning system, if so equipped, unplug the negative side of the battery, and drain the engine oil. Take out the valve lifters, engine cooling fan, fan shroud, radiator grille, hood latch bracket, radiator, a/c condenser if one, and the Water Pump. Subsequently, you need to take away the three Crankshaft Pulley bolts and the Crankshaft Pulley and upraise the vehicle. Remove the car's Oil Pan, lower the car, and then remove the engine front cover. Remove the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring, rotate the number one Piston all the way up to top dead center (TDC) and line up the timing marks on the Camshaft and crankshaft sprockets. Take off the Camshaft sprocket bolts; then, remove the Camshaft sprocket as well as the Camshaft Timing Chain; remove the Camshaft retainer plate and bolts with a t-30 torx socket; and remove the Camshaft. Ensure all components are in good condition and check for wear. Install the Camshaft back, install components taken off the front of the engine, raise the vehicle, and install fasteners to the Oil Pan before lowering the vehicle. Install the crankshaft balancer with the help of the balancer remover and installer (j 23523-f); install Water Pump, a/c condenser if equipped, radiator, hood latch bracket, radiator grille, engine cooling fan, and upper Fan Shroud. Return the valve lifters, Intake Manifold, valve rocker arms, and push valve rods, connect the battery negative cable, and change engine oil filter.
