Before installing the new Brake Backing Plate, secure the pin into the park brake lever before using proper safety stands to elevate the vehicle. Begin by removing the tire and wheel and then move to remove the rear
Brake Drum and rear brake shoes followed by rear
Wheel Cylinder and rear brake anchor pin. The next step involves removing the rear Brake Backing Plate retaining bolts and washers to remove the Brake Backing Plate from the vehicle. Install the rear Brake Backing Plate by securing it with retaining bolts and washers tightened to 140 nm (104 ft. Lbs.). Apply high temperature silicone brake lubricant to all surfaces including Brake Shoe backing plate and its adjusting screw threads along with socket then socket face. Afterward install the rear brake shoes before moving onto the adjustment of rear brakes followed by hydraulic brake system bleeding. Reinstall the tire then the wheel before checking the park brake adjustment. Follow this braking sequence when the engine is off: apply the brake pedal two thirds of its total span and release it steadily for 15 seconds before repeating this procedure until you reach maximum braking force to achieve correct Wheel Cylinder and Brake Shoe positioning.
