The replacement procedure for the engine coolant fan upper shroud demands starting with removal of coolant recovery reservoir then proceeding to engine-specific air cleaner assembly separation. Startswith the removal of the air cleaner outlet resonator followed by the a/c suction hose for 4.3l engines yet the radiator inlet hose removal for 4.8l and 5.3l and 6.0l engines. First disconnect the
Battery Cable with the maf sensor wire from the Fan Shroud clips and then take out the transmission oil lever indicator. Remove the Fan Shroud by disconnecting all its bolts. The Fan Shroud should be placed into position before securing it with bolts that must be tightened to 6 nm (53 lb in). Reset the transmission oil lever indicator along with the maf sensor wire and the Battery Cable. The 4.3l engine requires reattaching of the a/c suction hose and the radiator inlet hose installation applies specifically to the 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l engine platforms. The air cleaner outlet resonator and air cleaner assembly need to be installed with the coolant recovery reservoir following them.
