Before changing the inner Tie Rod of the Rack And Pinion (Quiet Valve) one must prepare an inner Tie Rod wrench (J 34028) as necessary tool. Begin by taking out the Rack And Pinion boot as well as the breather tube then use a vise clamp to hold the gear securely. The procedure requires avoiding adjustments of steering gear preload before separating inner tie rods because it could harm both pinion and steering gear. Put the shock dampener back onto the rack inside its inner Tie Rod housing. You should use a pipe wrench on the rack adjacent to the inner Tie Rod housing and twist it counterclockwise using a wrench on its flats until the rack disconnects from the inner Tie Rod housing. First detach the other inner Tie Rod housing with its shock dampener then establish the procedure again. After thread cleaning, apply loctite® 262 but only if it is specified or use another equivalent product before installing the inner Tie Rod into the rack .
