First step in servicing the coolant line/hose requires air cleaner assembly removal followed by engine cooling system drainage. Service the coolant line/hose repairs by starting with the removal of coolant recovery reservoir and then the upper
Fan Shroud. Vehicles with 4.3l, 5.0/5.7l or 8.1l engines require disconnecting the by-pass hose from the
Water Pump. Likewise, vehicles with 6.5l diesel engines require the same disconnect. Back up work by restoring the by-pass hose to its original position on the vehicle. The by-pass hose installation begins with the 6.5l diesel engine Water Pump followed by the 8.1l engine and then the 4.3l and 5.0/5.7l engines. After filling the engine cooling system reinstall both the upper Fan Shroud and the coolant recovery reservoir or surge tank followed by air cleaner assembly installation.
