The process to change
Valve Stem Oil Seals begins with disconnecting the
Spark Plug wire and removing the valve
Rocker Arm. Twist boot housing 1/2 turn but pull only the boot while disconnecting the Spark Plug wire. After loosening spark plugs 1 or 2 turns while engine stays cool, clean debris away with air or brush before taking out plugs from Cylinder Head. Attach the j 22794 Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) into the Spark Plug hole and steady the valves with compressed air from an
Air Hose. To remove valve springs push the j 38606 valve spring compressor (J 38606) on while softening the valve springs. You can then clear out the valve stem keys once the valve springs become easy to release. Pull out valve spring compressor j 38606 then take off valve spring cap and valve spring from the shaft. Additionally, disconnect the Valve Stem Oil Seal and shim (1, 5). Clean both valve spring areas before putting engine oil on the valve guide and stem oil seal. Set the valve stem seal and shim (1, 5) in their designated places. Afterward place the valve spring and valve spring cap on their seating and press the valve spring using the j 38606 tool. Use grease to set the valve keys onto the valve stem base while pushing them into their correct positioning in the stem grooves. Let go of the valve spring pressure carefully while keeping the valve keys in position to remove the j 38606. Stroke the valve stem tip gently with a plastic head hammer to position the keys if needed. To restart the Spark Plug system you need to take out j 22794 from its port and manually rotate the Spark Plug until reaching 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs. Torque). Lastly put the
Spark Plug Wires onto both the
Ignition Coil and Spark Plug then check their connections before putting back the valve Rocker Arm.
