    Q:
How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on Chevrolet Express 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, remove the valve rockers arm, and after that, at the Spark Plug, twist each plug wire boot 1/2 turn and pull only the boot off. Take out the spark plugs from the Cylinder Head with an engine that is at room temperature turn them 1 or 2 turns and then clean by using brush or air blast to get rid of dirt or other stuff before removing fully the Spark Plug. Install Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794), connect an Air Hose to it, attach an Air Hose to it and use compressed air to keep the valves in place. With the help of the valve spring compressor (J 38606), compress the motion of the valve spring, followed by removing the valve stem keys and after that carefully releasing the valve spring tension. The valve spring compressor (J 38606) is then removed, followed by the valve spring cap and the valve spring, as well as further slide out of the Valve Stem Oil Seal and shim (1, 5). User should clean Cylinder Head valve spring seat or shim area, lubricate valve guide and Valve Stem Oil Seal with clean engine oil and install Valve Stem Oil Seal and shim (1, 5). Next, install the valve spring and valve spring cap, compress the valve spring with the valve spring compressor (J 38606) and install the valve keys, applying grease to hold the valves in their place and ensure that they are seated in the groove of the valve stem. Carefully relax the valve spring pressure without disturbing the valve keys and remove the valve spring compressor (J38606). Tap the end of the valve stem with a plastic faced hammer to seat the keys if needed. Lastly, take off Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) from Spark Plug port, crank start the Spark Plug, and tighten it to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Replace the Spark Plug Wires at the Ignition Coil and to the Spark Plug, check the wires for correct installation by pushing sideways on each boot and replace loose boot and then install valve Rocker Arm.

    Q:
How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on Chevrolet Silverado 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To fix the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring you must first take off the Rocker Arm and disconnect the plug wire at the Spark Plug by turning each wire boot 1/2 and gently pulling. Following the room temperature procedure loosen spark plugs one or two turns before air blowing off debris for removal. Insert j 22794 Spark Plug port adapter into the Spark Plug hole and join an Air Hose to it before blowing compressed air through to fix the valves in position. To replace the valve stem keys without damaging the valve spring, the j 38606 valve spring compressor (J 38606) compresses the valve spring before the technician removes both keys then releases valve spring tension. Lower the j 38606 valve spring compressor and then pull off its components in this order: valve spring cap, valve spring, and Valve Stem Oil Seal and shim in sequence (1, 5). Put engine oil on the valve guide before you install the Valve Stem Oil Seal and shim (1, 5) into their places followed by the valve spring and valve spring cap . Press the valve spring until the j 38606 reaches its compression stage then position the valve keys with grease before making sure they enter the valve stem groove. Let go of spring tension on j 38606 while keeping valve keys in their slots before taking out tool. Use a plastic-faced hammer to push keys down when necessary. Install the hand-started j 22794 into the Spark Plug port and tighten to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). Place the Ignition Coil Spark Plug wires into their designated ports at the end. Connect each Spark Plug wire to its respective Spark Plug after validation. Also reinstall any loose rubber grommets during the Rocker Arm installation process.

    Q:
How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
After disconnecting the Spark Plug wire and removing the Rocker Arm you need to squeeze the bolt of the valve spring compressor to begin the Valve Stem Oil Seal replacement. Take room-temperature spark plugs out of the Cylinder Head by turning them 1 or 2 times then cleaning them with an air gun before pulling them out completely. Insert the Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) into the valve hole and connect compressed air through the Air Hose to lock the valves. With the valve spring compressor j 38606 compressed to set the valve spring and take away valve stem keys and gradually drop the valve spring load. Carefully take out the valve spring cap, valve spring, Valve Stem Oil Seal, and shim (1, 5) from their positions. Apply engine oil to clean valve seat and shim areas before inserting the Valve Stem Oil Seal and shim (1, 5). Then put valve spring and valve spring cap on top. Position the valve keys properly inside the valve stem groove while adding grease to hold them. Then mount the valve keys using the valve spring compressor (J 38606). Lower the valve spring pressure slowly while keeping the valve keys fixed in place then remove the compressor. To seat the keys correctly use the flat end of a plastic hammer to strike the valve stem tip. First disconnect the Spark Plug port adapter j 22794 from the Spark Plug hole then crank the engine by hand before setting the Spark Plug to 15 nm torque setting. Put in the Spark Plug Wires to the Ignition Coil then link the spark wire to the Spark Plug. Verify the wire placement and put back any loose protective boots before setting the Rocker Arm in place.

    Q:
How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on GMC Sierra 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before beginning Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring replacement it's essential to remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods while positioning the Piston in the serviced cylinder at its lowest point to stop engine rotation when compressed air is applied. First close both valves through Crankshaft rotation then you may remove the Spark Plug from the cylinder. The Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) should be installed within the Spark Plug hole before applying compressed air through the adapter to keep the valves sealed. Use the valve spring compressor j 5892-d to install on the Cylinder Head while securing it with the valve Rocker Arm nut. Tap the valve spring cap lightly to free the valve stem keys before installation. The valve spring compressor j 5892-d compresses the spring while you remove the keys from the valve stems. Avoid releasing compressed air to stop the valve from dropping into the cylinder bore. After removing the valve spring compressor (J 5892-D) from the Cylinder Head proceed by taking out the valve spring cap and valve spring in succession. The oil seal on the valve stem needs removal. Cleaning engine oil should be applied as a lubricant to the valve stem before installation and the outside diameter of the valve guide seal and rotators also need lubrication. The valve stem seal installer (J 43105) enables installation of valve stem oil seals from the valve tip to the valve guide through gentle tapping until complete seating occurs. Set the valve spring into place with small-end up and position the valve spring cap after. Position the valve spring compressor (J 5892-D) to squeeze the spring again before you install the valve stem keys for which you should apply clean grease. Using the valve spring compressor (J 5892-D) compress the valve spring before removing the tool. Drain compressed air from the cylinder and take away the compressor. To complete the replacement process first install the Spark Plug then reconnect both valve rocker arms and pushrods.

    Q:
How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on GMC Sierra 3500 Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
You need to begin by taking out the Rocker Arm part along with disconnecting the Spark Plug wire from the Spark Plug by turning each boot 1/2 turn and then smoothly pulling on it. When the engine reaches room temperature loosen spark plugs half to one full turn before air or brush cleaning the plugs for complete removal. Place j 22794 adapter into the Spark Plug port then link an Air Hose to control valve position during service. Load the j 38606 valve spring compressor tool onto the valve spring to compress it before taking off its valve stem keys (225) and easing the valve spring stress with j 38606. First detach valve springs, valve spring caps (224), valve stem seals (222) and valve pieces (228). Apply clean engine oil to the valve guide and Valve Stem Oil Seal after preparing their installation locations. Place valves (228) into their designated ports and fit the Valve Stem Oil Seal (222) followed by the valve spring (223) and valve spring cap (224). Use manual pressure from j 38606 to compress the valve spring then set valve keys in position using grease until they reach their grooves on the valve stem. After you let go of the valve spring carefully watch for correct placement of valve keys before removing the tool. Strike the valve stem tip firmly with a plastic face hammer to place the keys before taking off the j 38606 tool. After pulling out the j 22794 from the Spark Plug position start the engine and fasten the plug with15 n.m torque. Put Spark Plug Wires onto the ignition coils and spark plugs then examine all wire boots for correct installation by pushing sideways on them to check for loose ends before adding the Rocker Arm.
