- Q: How to replace the throttle cable on GMC Savana 2500?A: The replacement of accelerator controls cable begins with removing both the engine cover and air cleaner assembly. The first step begins with removing the accelerator cable from the throttle body lever before you remove it from the cable bracket. The first step includes removing the left instrument panel insulator while also disengaging the accelerator cable from its positions on the generator bracket and engine sight shield mounting bracket. The accelerator cable retainer must be dismounted from the accelerator pedal lever after pressing the accelerator cable cover tangs and guiding the cable through the dash panel for removal. To install the accelerator cable users should first feed it into the dash panel then position and click the accelerator cable cover tangs into proper placement. To install the accelerator cable you must pass it through the slot of the accelerator pedal lever then position the retainer inside the lever. First connect the accelerator cable to the throttle body lever before slipping it into the slot on the accelerator cable bracket. Next snap the locking tab for position on the engine sight shield mounting bracket then clip the cable onto the generator bracket. The accelerator cable should be mounted on top of the engine sight shield mounting bracket. The complete throttle function should be tested by operating the accelerator pedal while ensuring carpet clearance under the pedal and throttle movement throughout its entire operating range. Together with the air cleaner assembly and left instrument panel insulator replace the engine cover.
