Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on GMC Sierra 1500?
A: Vehicle elevation before starting the replacement process while disconnecting the negative Battery Cable stands as the initial step to change the ABS Control Module. Maintain a clean environment surrounding the electric hydraulic control unit (EHCU) because contamination of abs components combined with dirt should be avoided. The mounting screws of the ABS Control Module must be removed in order to detach it from the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) while using delicate hand pressure as needed. Use a clean cloth to wipe clean the areas on which the bpmv mounts to the ABS Control Module. Install the new ABS Control Module while using fresh mounting screws and skip the use of all sealants when working with the ABS Control Module gasket and contact areas. The new ABS Control Module should be attached to the bpmv before torquing its screws to 5 nm (39 inch lbs.) in a cross-shaped pattern. Attach the negative cable and lower the car until completion. Installation of a fresh ABS Control Module requires the ignition turned to on while abstaining from engine start followed by completion of diagnostic system check - vehicle.
