To remove the
Spark Plug wires you needed to twist the boot on the Spark Plug 1/2 turn and pull straight on the boot itself or use a tool designed for this purpose. Subsequently, disconnect the wires from the
Distributor by twisting each Spark Plug boot 1/2 turn and again pulling only the boot or using a tool made for this purpose. Then, disconnect the wires from the wire separators. While installing, make sure the boots are properly seated, sideward pressure to them so that improper seating which may result in wire core erosion and engine misfire or crossfire, which may also damage the engine internally. Start by attaching the Spark Plug wires to the Distributor and attach them to each Spark Plug and the wire separators as well. It is important to preserve the original routing of the wires during service. Once installed, inspect the wires by tilting from side to side on each boot to check for appropriate seating, reinstall loose boots and add fresh dielectric grease within the boot when the Spark Plug wire/boot is attached to the Spark Plug whenever possible.
