GMC Sierra 3500 Classic Alternator Bracket Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the alternator bracket on 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, and 6.2L engines on GMC Sierra 3500 Classic?
A: Engine generator removal is necessary before starting to replace the generator bracket on vehicles with 4.8l, 5.3l, 6.0l, or 6.2l engines along with the Power Steering Pump. First disconnect the engine wiring harness clip bolt then position the clip to a safe location that is away from the generator bracket. Begin by uninstalling the two bolts securing the generator bracket followed by extracting the whole component. Install the generator bracket to the engine position and drive in the generator bracket bolts before tightening them at 50 n.m (37 lb ft). The generator bracket receives the engine wiring harness clip through the engine harness clip bolt that needs to be tightened to 9 n.m (80 lb in). The Power Steering Pump and generator should be put back into place as the last step.
