GMC Sierra 3500 Classic Flywheel Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Flywheel in an automatic transmission on GMC Sierra 3500 Classic?
A: Spilling the automatic transmission requires you to begin by removing the transmission while tracking Flywheel engine direction before taking it out. The first step requires removal of the Flywheel bolts followed by the complete removal of the Flywheel. First apply two m11x1.5 mm bolts into the spacer threaded holes and then turn them clockwise to remove the spacer from the Crankshaft rear. Installation procedure requires the spacer to be placed on the Crankshaft back and mechanics should use longer Flywheel bolts when working with applications featuring a Flywheel spacer. The water-proof threadlock should be applied to the Flywheel bolt threads before installation on the Crankshaft where each bolt must be tightened following a specific process beginning by securing bolts (1-6) in order to reach 20 n.m torque (15 lb ft) then progressing to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) and concluding at 100 n.m torque (74 lb ft). Installation should begin after you finish these procedures with the automatic transmission.
