The engine Flywheel replacement process begins with removing the transmission before you can remove the Flywheel bolts and separate the Flywheel from the assembly. Install the new Flywheel with its "engine side" impression positioned toward the engine direction. After Flywheel bolt installation you should tighten them in three steps by initial torque to 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.), second torque to 80 nm (59 ft. Lbs.) and final torque to 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.). Reinstallation of the transmission follows the Flywheel installation.

The replacement of the engine Flywheel begins with automatic transmission removal followed by correct documentation of engine Flywheel orientation. After separating the Flywheel bolts you should proceed to remove both the bolts and the Flywheel. The rear Crankshaft spacer can be extracted when you insert two m11x1.5 mm bolts into its threaded holes and rotate them clockwise. The installation procedure requires placing the spacer onto the Crankshaft rear and afterwards installing the Flywheel and bolts to the Crankshaft but use extended Flywheel bolts when a spacer exists. The correct threadlock part number must be used to cover the Flywheel bolt threads. Apply this threadlock compound before fastening the bolts. Follow this procedure to install the Flywheel bolts by applying torque of 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) first followed by 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) then finally ending with 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.). Reinstallation of the automatic transmission should follow these installation procedures.

You must start by taking off the automatic transmission while marking down the engine Flywheel position together with its direction after removing it. Begin by removing the bolts from the Flywheel and taking out the Flywheel piece afterward. Two m11x1.5 mm bolts must go through the threaded spacer holes before you turn them clockwise for spacer removal from the Crankshaft rear side. Before installation apply the spacer to the Crankshaft end and follow by attaching the Flywheel and its bolts to the Crankshaft using extended Flywheel bolts when a spacer exists behind the Crankshaft. N3m threadlocker gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) and equivalent products need application on Flywheel bolt threads. The Flywheel bolt tightening process should begin at 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) before proceeding to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) and finally reaching 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.). Reinsert the automatic transmission after performing the tightening operation.

Service and repair operations on flex plates require first removal of the transmission before removal of the engine Flywheel. Thorough examination of all parts must take place after cleaning them. Begin with fitting the motor Flywheel followed by transmission installation.

After completing these steps, reinstall the automatic transmission.

Secure it with the engine flywheel bolts.

Clean and inspect all parts thoroughly.
