The process begins by removing the air conditioning (A/C)
Drive Belt together with cooling fan and shroud and
Starter motor. Install the
Flywheel holding tool (J 42386-A) by allowing its teeth to match the engine Flywheel teeth before fastening it with one m10-1.5 x 120 mm and one m10-1.5 x 45 mm bolt to a torque of 50 n.m (37 lb ft). The bolt 139 serving the crankshaft balancer must be taken out for later reuse in installation. The crankshaft balancer remover (J 41816) and crankshaft end protector (J 41816-2) should be installed onto the crankshaft balancer before using them to remove the balancer component (138). The installation of the balancer requires first positioning it on the crankshaft followed by using the crankshaft balancer and sprocket installer (J 41665) with crankshaft front oil seal installer (J 41478) threaded rod to execute balancer mounting. Tighten the used crankshaft balancer bolt (139) to 330 n.m (240 lb ft) then remove it and check that the crankshaft nose enters the balancer bore 2.4-4.48 mm (0.094-0.176 in) deep. Use the measuring tool to check if installation is correct; carry out the procedure again if needed for proper positioning. Place the new crankshaft balancer bolt (139) with initial torque to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) followed by an angle meter (J 45059) procedure for final 140-degree tightening. Complete the procedure by taking out the Flywheel holding tool (J 42386-A) along with the bolts before putting back the Starter motor and cooling fan assembly, a/c Drive Belt while performing the crankshaft position (CKP) system variation learn procedure.
