GMC Terrain Ignition Lock Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on GMC Terrain?
A: Starting the replacement process requires users to first disconnect their vehicle's battery negative cable. Begin by taking out the protective shielding which covers the steering column. Put the key into the Ignition Lock Cylinder then flip it to the run setting. Depress the retainer through the lock housing access hole with a small allen wrench or comparable tool before removing the Ignition Lock Cylinder from the ignition and start switch housing. Make sure to code a new Ignition Lock Cylinder if you install one. Turn the key to the run position and place the Ignition Lock Cylinder inside the housing where ignition and start switches blend. First turn the key to lock then entirely remove it from the Ignition Lock Cylinder. Complete your installation by placing back the steering column shroud and completing battery negative cable reconnection.
