GMC Yukon Drive Belt Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Drive Belt on a V8 engine on GMC Yukon?
A: A v8 engine needs the removal of both accessory Drive Belt and skid plate to replace its air conditioning compressor belt. Cut away the old belt both from the air conditioning and crankshaft pulleys. The oem replacement stretchy belt features a disposable installation tool for installation purposes. Position the new belt onto the rear face area of the balancer and out of reach from the a/c pulley. Put the belt installation tool onto the balancer until it reaches the top so you can set the belt on it. Pull the installation tool from the top to place the belt on the a/c pulley while maintaining a light amount of tension. The ribbed section of the belt should always face in the forward direction when installed. It is necessary to turn the Crankshaft Pulley clockwise while applying light finger pressure to move the belt toward the front and maintain its forward-facing position against the a/c pulley. After inspecting the Drive Belt for alignment and proper installation the balancer should be rotated one more 360-degree cycle to verify correct installation. Install the skid plate and the accessory Drive Belt together.
