Serpentine Belt

Starting the replacement process for the v8 engine air conditioning compressor belt requires users to remove the accessory Drive Belt alongside the skid plate. The old rubber belt needs to be cut from both the air conditioning unit and crankshaft pulleys. Position the new belt behind the rear side of the balancer and beyond the a/c pulley. Hook the belt installation tool to the balancer and then raise it to attach the belt onto the tool. After sliding the tool downward you will position the belt onto the air conditioning pulley while applying gentle tension on it. Let the front section of the belt expose its parts with ribs because of the facing direction it needs to follow. Use clock-wise Crankshaft Pulley rotation together with finger pressure at the belt to pull it forward until the ribbed side rests directly in front of the a/c pulley. To verify Drive Belt installation inspect it while rotating the balancer 360 degrees more. Finally place back the skid plate and accessory Drive Belt and install them correctly.

The first step to replace the air conditioning compressor belt for v8 engines requires removal of the accessory Drive Belt together with the skid plate. Disconnect the old belt which links the air conditioning and crankshaft pulleys. Lay the new belt at the rear part of the balancer where it remains clear of the a/c pulley contact. Position the belt installation tool to the balancer before sliding it upwards to place the belt on the tool. You should move the tool downward to give the belt proper placement on the a/c pulley but maintain only minimal tension. The ribbed surface of the belt must be positioned facing forward at the bottom of its installation. Finger pressure alongside clockwise turning of the Crankshaft Pulley will help pull the belt forward until the ribbed section covers the a/c pulley correctly. Check the Drive Belt alignment when installed correctly. Proceed to turn the balancer another 360 degrees for correct positioning inspection. The final stage consists of reattaching both the skid plate along with the accessory Drive Belt.

Install the A/C belt over the tensioner pulley and around the A/C compressor pulley.

Route the new drive belt around all pulleys except the idler pulley.

Use a 3/8 inch breaker bar to rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise to relieve tension on the drive belt.

Attach the breaker bar with hex-head socket to the belt tensioner bolt and rotate it clockwise to relieve tension, then install the drive belt on the generator pulley.

Install the 3/8 inch drive breaker bar to the drive belt tensioner arm and rotate it counterclockwise to relieve tension.

Reinstall the air cleaner outlet duct, start the vehicle, and check the drive belt for proper operation before closing the hood.

Slowly rotate the crankshaft pulley counterclockwise 180 degrees while using finger pressure to pull the belt forward.

Place the A/C belt around the crankshaft balancer, then use a ratchet in the A/C drive belt tensioner to relieve tension again.

Reinstall the air cleaner outlet duct, start the vehicle, and check the drive belt for proper operation before closing the hood.

Slowly release the tension on the A/C belt tensioner and remove the ratchet.

First, remove the accessory drive belt and the skid plate.

Route the drive belt around all pulleys except the idler pulley, then install the breaker bar with hex-head socket on the tensioner bolt and rotate it clockwise to relieve tension.
