A: To replace the Catalytic Converter, first lift and properly suspend the vehicle. If available, unplug the Oxygen Sensor connection from the floor reinforcement and unplug the Oxygen Sensor electrical connector. Remove the sensor clips off of the frame, disconnect connector position assurance retainers, and disconnect Oxygen Sensor electrical connectors. Unclip the electrical connectors of the oxygen sensors from the hose clip and the transmission crossmember and disconnect the cpa retainers and the Oxygen Sensor electrical connectors (1,2). Loosen the left and right exhaust manifold pipe nuts, exhaust muffler nuts, and remove the Catalytic Converter. If necessary, remove the oxygen sensors. Installation should top off fluids, install gas sensors after applying anti-seize compound such as gm p/n 12377953 or equivalent to the threads of old gas sensors and tighten to 42 nm (31 ft. Lbs.). Install the Catalytic Converter and new exhaust manifold pipe seals to the exhaust manifolds. Mount the right and left exhaust manifold pipe nuts until they are tight and afterward tighten them up to 50 nm (39 ft. Lbs). Attach the exhaust muffler nuts by tightening 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Connect the Oxygen Sensor's electrical connectors (1, 2) and cpa retainers followed by clipming the oxygen sensors' electrical connectors to the hose clip and the transmission crossmember. Connect the Oxygen Sensor electrical connectors and cpa retainers, install the clip around the engine harness and the Oxygen Sensor pig tail, and the connect the Oxygen Sensor electrical connector. If available, have the Oxygen Sensor connection clipped to the floor reinforcement and drop the vehicle.
