  Starting to replace engine oil and Oil Filter requires opening the hood before you remove the oil fill cap. A vehicle must be properly lifted and supported before positioning an oil drain pan beneath the Oil Pan Drain Plug. The engine oil drainage occurs through removing the Oil Pan Drain Plug completely until the bottom of the Oil Pan stays level. After cleaning the drain hole wipe the area and remove the Oil Filter from the block surface while checking for leftover filter parts on the block. After cleaning the mount area of the new Oil Filter use clean engine oil to lubricate its mounting seal before installing it on the engine block with 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) of torque. Lower the vehicle after you set the oil Drain Plug to the engine block with 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) torque. The crankcase requires the correct amount of prescribed engine oil before removing and cleaning the oil indicator before reinstallation. The service technician should monitor oil levels before finally closing the hood. Add more oil if required.
