    Q:
How to replace the throttle body assembly on GMC Sierra 3500 Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
When replacing a Throttle Body assembly handle electronic throttle control components carefully while preventing damage through all sessions with cleaning solvents or utilizing tools to maintain throttle plate position. Start by disconnecting the electronic throttle control from its engine wiring harness connector then remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Remove Throttle Body components by detaching the torque hardware consisting of nuts (507) and bolts (538) to extract the Throttle Body (508) and discard its gasket (509). When installing the new Throttle Body Gasket position it on the Intake Manifold so its tab rests in the notch. Sliding the Throttle Body (508) into position alongside its accompanying bolts (538) and nuts (507) requires a 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque specification for final tightening. The engine wiring harness electrical connector seal for electronic throttle control must be in excellent condition with proper installation before reattaching the electrical connector. After reinstalling the air cleaner outlet duct connect a scan tool to test throttle-opening and throttle-closing range performance. Press the accelerator pedal to verify unrestricted motion from full closed position to wide open throttle position. Check that reduced engine power mode status is disabled while the ignition is set to on position and the engine remains switched off before initiating engine start to assess coolant leakage.
