Throttle Cable

Beginning throttle cable replacement starts with taking off the left instrument panel sound insulator followed by detaching the throttle cable from the accelerator pedal through the bulkhead by pressing the cable cover tangs while the cable passes. Remove first the cruise control cable from both throttle body lever and bracket and then disconnect the retaining clip and throttle body lever and throttle cable bracket followed by noting the cable route. When installing items check that flexible components have proper support not less than 50 mm (2 in) near moving elements to stop any potential disorders. The throttle cable must follow its specified routing before you insert the snap retainer through the bulkhead and fasten the cable end into the slot of the accelerator pedal lever where the snap retainer will secure itself. After routing the throttle cable to the throttle body lever and the throttle cable bracket you must attach its connection then route the cruise control cable to the throttle body lever with its bracket before securing the throttle cable to its retaining clip. Regular operation of the throttle pedal is necessary to ensure full position movement and a correct carpet fit under the pedal must be checked before reinstallation of the left instrument panel sound insulator.

Start the replacement of the throttle cable by first turning OFF the ignition key and then taking out the left instrument panel sound insulator. The procedure starts when you remove the throttle cable connection at the pedal, after which you should push and stretch the throttle cable cover tangs to gain access. First detach the cruise control cable from the throttle body lever while removing the throttle cable shield when equipped. First detach the throttle cable from its retaining clip then disconnect it from the throttle body lever along with the throttle cable bracket. Remove the cable from the vehicle keeping track of the routing path. Flexible parts of the installation require secure attachment outside a 50-mm (2-in) boundary from moving components to prevent any interference between them. Put the throttle cable in the designated route and install the snap retainer through the bulkhead opening. Connect the throttle cable into the slot of the throttle pedal lever before seating the snap retainer. You must install the throttle cable to the throttle body lever along with the throttle cable bracket before routing the cruise control cable to the throttle body lever. Reinstall the throttle cable shield only when the system includes this component after connecting the cable to its retaining clip. Operate the throttle pedal while examining whether the throttle opens and closes entirely without incidents by checking freedom of motion throughout the range. Reinstall the left instrument panel sound insulator.

Inspect for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal, check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.

Ensure that flexible components are not routed within 50 mm (2 in) of moving parts unless securely fastened to prevent interference and damage.

Attach the accelerator cable to the throttle body lever and the accelerator cable bracket, followed by the cruise control cable to the throttle body lever and the bracket.
