Begin by opening the hood then take out the left front headlamp to replace the Hood Cable. You need to block the Hood Latch because new installation of the cable requires you to avoid hood locking. You need to start by detaching the Hood Cable from its position on the latch mechanism then getting rid of the front fender upper diagonal brace. Proceed with removing the air cleaner before following the relevant replacement instructions for either the 3.1l or 3.8l engine product. Secure a wire or string to the door of the old hood release cable because it will help during new cable installation while maintaining it inside the engine compartment. Cable retainers of the Hood Cable must be detached from the engine compartment side rail before pulling back the carpet to reach the cable. First disconnect the hood release handle before taking the cable away from it. A narrow flat tool will extract the dashboard grommet before you can remove the cable from its position. During cable installation attach the new Hood Cable to the wire then push the setup through the grommet situated at dash panel before applying strip caulk sealer at the grommet. The user needs to connect the cable to the hood release handle before reinstalling the handle. Obtain access to the engine compartment side rail by removing the carpet and attach the Hood Cable retainers. After passing the cable beneath the radiator support install the air cleaner hardware following engine recommendations. First detach the front fender upper diagonal brace then join the Hood Cable to the Hood Latch before reinstalling the left front headlamp. After removing the blocking mechanism check the Hood Latch function before completely shutting down the hood.

Start the hood primary latch cable replacement by first opening the hood and removing the left front headlamp. Block the Hood Latch to stop it from locking up during your installation of the new cable. Start by disconnecting the Hood Cable from the latch mechanism followed by removing the front fender upper diagonal brace. After removing the air cleaner it is essential to follow the correct replacement procedures stipulated for 3.1l or 3.8l engines. Before starting the new cable installation you should attach a wire or string to the old Hood Cable end which will stay within the engine compartment. Start by detaching the hood release handle from its mount then extract the cable from this assembly using a thin flat tool while removing the cable from the grommet inside the dash panel. During hood installation connect the new Hood Cable to a wire then guide it through the dash panel grommet while applying strip caulk sealer to the grommet. Hook the Hood Cable onto its handle before you install the handle back. The first step involves exposing the engine compartment side rail and attaching the cable retainers securely in position. Route the cable through the radiator support before reinstalling the air cleaner according to the specified engine installation method. Install the front fender upper diagonal brace while linking the Hood Cable to the Hood Latch before you install the left front headlamp. Gently lift the Hood Latch block then examine the hood operation before closing the hood.

Block the hood latch to prevent locking until the new cable is installed.
