Opening the hood leads to the upper fascia support removal. Mark the latch position against the body frame while removing its bolts to disconnect the hood cable from the hood latch by squeezing the retainer on the hood cable. Begin by taking out the side trim panel retainers and continuing with the removal of the hush panel from the instrument panel followed by removing the knee bolster from the instrument panel. Secure the hood cable handle bolts before finalizing the end of the wire or string which should stay inside the passenger compartment. A wire connected to the hood cable will make installation easier by attaching to the cable end. A small flat-bladed tool helps disassemble the grommet which will pass from the engine area to the passenger area before removing the hood cable from its position within the instrument panel and stripping out the wire or string in that same area. The wire or string should be tied to the new hood cable before feeding it through the instrument panel opening. The small flat-bladed tool should push the grommet into complete position before you remove the wire or string. Mount the hood cable ball to the latch structure followed by tightening the hood latch fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in). The final step involves reinstallation of the upper fascia support followed by the knee bolster and hood cable handle together with side trim panel and hush panel appearance.

The procedure to replace Hood Cable begins with opening the hood while removing the upper fascia support. First mark the latch position to the body frame and then disconnect the hood release cable from the hood latch by squeezing the hood release cable retainer. Finally detach the hood latch bolts. The next step involves removing the side trim panel retainers followed by the hush panel from the instrument panel and finally the knee bolster of the instrument panel. Safeguard the string termination point inside the passenger section before you uninstall the bolts which secure the hood cable handle. The wire or string should be attached to the end of the hood release cable to help during its installation. Leveled down a small flat-bladed tool to extract the grommet from engine to passenger sector after you detach the hood release cable through the instrument panel while removing string or cord from this area. Use the small flat-bladed tool to pass both the wire or string and new hood cable through the instrument panel hole resulting in full grommet insertion. Take the wire or string out followed by attaching the hood cable ball to the existing latch and securing the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in). To conclude the fix install the upper fascia support along with the knee bolster and hood cable handle as well as side trim panel and hush panel.

Secure the hood latch fasteners, tightening them to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
