    Q:
How to Remove and Install the Air Bag Clockspring Assembly on Chevrolet Corvette? Posted by Customer
    A:
Firstly, disable sir for the air bag clock spring assembly / spiral cable. Third, take out the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module, followed by the upper and lower shrouds, followed by the Steering Wheel. Remove the Steering Wheel column wire harness from wire harness straps and remove retaining ring. Last, remove the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module coil from the Steering Shaft. There is no specific order for installing, just make sure the wheels are straight ahead and center sir coil assembly if needed. Mount the current sir coil assembly onto the Steering Shaft assembly by fixing the same appropriately, aligning the opening with the least horn tower and the "locating bump" among the two tabs on the lock housing cover and sleeve assembly and bringing in conjunction with the Steering Shaft assembly. If a new sir coil assembly is needed, then compose the pre-centered sir coil assembly to the Steering Shaft assembly, place it, align the opening, eliminate the centering tab, and discard it. At that time, install the retaining ring onto the Steering Shaft assembly and run the lower coil portion of the wire harness along the steering column, connect the Steering Wheel column wire harness to the wire harness straps. And then install the Steering Wheel, upper and lower shrouds, and the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module, and then, enable the sir system.
