    Q:
How to replace the Front Cross-Member for both 2WD and 4WD on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
In order to replace the transmission support crossmember for 2wd and 4wd, it is necessary to lift the vehicle and properly fix the transmission with a suitable steering or stand/jack. For 2wd, pull off nuts to keep the transmission mount on the transmission support, and lift the transmission. Next, pull out the vertical bolts and horizontal nuts and bolts that hold the transmission support to the frame. For installation, set the transmission support back in its place and hook the horizontal nuts and bolts, then the vertical bolts. Tighten horizontal nuts to 50 n.m (37 lb.ft) and vertical bolts 100 n.m (74 lb ft). Reduce the transmission and tighten nuts to the transmission mount before lifting vehicle or taking out the stand or jack and lowering the vehicle. For 4 wd follow the same first steps but once you lift the transmission there are nuts that hold the transmission mount to the transmission support, remove these nuts and then follow an identical removal and installation as in the 2wd section.

    Q:
How to replace the Front Cross-Member for Transmission Support (2WD) on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the transmission support crossmember (2WD), lift the vehicle and make the transverse support using an appropriate stand or jack while holding the trans. Clarify the transmission support of the nuts retaining the transmission mount if the corresponding process falls into the category of the 4l60e/4l65e transmission or the aisin ar5 transmission. Next, lift the transmission and remove its vertical bolts and horizontal nuts and bolts that hold the transmission support to the frame, after which remove the transmission support from the frame. For installation, lift the transmission support and place it back on the frame, loosely tighten the horizontal nuts and bolts, and follow the fastener notice whenever possible. Then, loosely screw in the vertical bolts holding the transmission support to the frame. Tighten the horizontal nuts to rotational force of 50 n.m (37 lb ft) while the vertical bolts should be tightened to a rotational force of 100 n.m (74 lb ft). Lower the transmission and attach the nuts to the transmission mount and again observe proper procedure for the respective transmission. Lastly, jack the stand or the jack up and lower the vehicle.

    Q:
How to replace the Front Cross-Member (4WD) on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, raise the vehicle, supporting the transmission by a proper stand or jack (Transm support cross member 4WD). Take off the nuts holding the transmission mount to the transmission support. Then, lift the transmission and pull off the vertical bolts and horizontal nuts and bolts holding the transmission support to the frame. Lift the old transmission support from the frame, but leave some space before lifting new ones from the frame. Loosely fit the horizontal nuts and bolts as well as the vertical bolts. Secure the horizontal nuts to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) and the vertical bolts to 100 n.m (74 lb ft). Lower the transmission and fix nuts on the transmission mount. Finally, take out the stand or jack and bring down the vehicle.

    Q:
How to replace the Front Cross-Member and Rear Crossmember on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by raising the vehicle and removing crossmember mounting bolts and nuts before you extract the component. Reinstall the crossmember onto your vehicle after which remove completely all remnants from the original adhesive patch. Mark the factory-installed bolts with a color that stands out then soak them in denatured alcohol for drying before implementing threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488). The installation of correct fasteners at their proper locations becomes essential because specific application demands exact part number matching for replacement fasteners. Service procedures identify fasteners which need replacement or require thread locking compounds or sealants. Paints and lubricants together with corrosion inhibitors are not suitable for use on fasteners because these substances can change torque functions and destructive clamping forces that damage the fastener. Proper mechanics must use both the correct sequence and specifications when tightening to stop system and component destruction. Finish the process by adding bolts and nuts which need to be tightened to 60 n.m (44 lb ft) before the vehicle descent.
