    Q:
How to replace the brake master cylinder on Chevrolet Prizm? Posted by Customer
    A:
First reverse polarity on the battery and disconnect the fluid switch connector before working on the Brake Master Cylinder. Take off and clean the reservoir cap before draining out its fluid. Secure the exposed brake lines at the master cylinder location with plugs to stop fluid leaks and outside contamination. Use your fingers to undo the three nuts holding the master cylinder and remove it. When the system has abs remove the seal then temporarily position the three bracket mounting nuts of the brake pressure modulator valve assembly. If your brake system lacks an abs system then remove its gasket from the vacuum booster. Bench bleed the master cylinder. Install the master cylinder with its new gasket to the vacuum booster and secure it with three nuts finger tightened at 13 nm. Install the master cylinder on the brake pressure modulator valve assembly bracket and vacuum booster by threading three nuts until tight at 13 nm. Secure the brake pipes between the master cylinder and its flare nuts using 15 nm torque setting (11 ft. Lbs.). After joining the fluid level switch cable you need to plug in the negative battery terminal and release air from the brake system.
