Lock Cylinder, Passenger Side

Before replacing the lock cylinder you need to take out the rear compartment lid applique. You need to loosen the rear compartment lid lock cable from the lock cylinder with a flat blade. Use a drill to remove the rivets holding the lock cylinder to the rear compartment lid and pull out both parts plus the gasket. Place the cylinder and gasket over the rear compartment lid before inserting the rivets. Press the rear compartment lid cable onto the cylinder until all retainer tabs settle into place. Include the rear compartment lid applique as the last step of the repair process.

A process to change the outside handle and lock cylinder begins with raising the window to maximum height before removing the front door trim panel and front door water deflector. Start the replacement of the outside handle rod by detaching it from the Door Lock Actuator while you also separate the Door Lock Cylinder rod from the front Door Lock Cylinder. The next procedure requires removal of the door outside handle bolts prior to the door outside handle and then extraction of the door inside locking rod from the door outside handle. The first step should be to disconnect the Door Lock Cylinder retaining clip followed by removing the Door Lock Cylinder gasket . Begin installation by placing the Door Lock Cylinder gasket first. After that move to install the Door Lock Cylinder by using its retaining clip. The installation process requires one to reattach the door inside locking rod to the door outside handle and to install both the door outside handle and its bolts. The door outside handle requires positioning in closed mode with the lower end of the rod entering the retainer located on the Door Lock Actuator to activate the retainer mechanism. The last step includes connecting the Door Lock Cylinder rod to the front Door Lock Cylinder before reinstalling the front door water deflector.

To change the rear compartment lid lock cylinder, get rid of the rear compartment lid lock cable assembly latch and the rear compartment lads appli. Next, remove two rivets. For cases of Oldsmobile models, pull out the rear compartment lid lock cylinder and shim; in cases of Chevrolet models, pull out the rear compartment lid lock cylinder gasket. When installing on Chvrolet brands, they replace the rear compartment lid lock cylinder gasket, and for Oldsmobile it is the rear compartment lid lock cylinder & shim. Then reinstall the two rivets, the rear compartment lid applique, and finally the rear compartment, lid lock cable assembly latch and make sure that the latch is all the way popped into the locking tabs.

To replace the trunk/liftgate lock cylinder in the compartment lid at the rear, first, take out the rear compartment lid applique. Then, disconnect the rear compartment lid lock cable from the lock cylinder with a flat bladed tool. Drill out the rivets that hold the lock cylinder in place in the rear compartment lid, then dispose of the lock cylinder and gasket. For install, place the lock cylinder and gasket onto the rear compartment lid, press on the rivets and engage the rear compartment lid lock cable onto the lock cylinder until the retainer tabs are fully seated. Lastly, reinstall the rear compartment lid applique.

Begin the process of outside handle and lock cylinder replacement by opening the window completely and then taking out the front door trim panel. You should first cut enough front door water deflector material to work on the door outside handle before unlatching the door outside handle rod from the Door Lock Actuator. The process begins by taking out the door outside handle bolts and removing the Door Lock Cylinder rod from the front Door Lock Cylinder before handling the door outside handle . The door locking rod must be detached from the door outside handle before removing the Door Lock Cylinder through its retaining clip followed by installing the Door Lock Cylinder gasket. Begin by putting the Door Lock Cylinder gasket then place the Door Lock Cylinder by using the retaining clip. The door inside locking rod should be reattached to the door outside handle before installing the door outside handle and its corresponding bolts. Let the door outside handle reach its closed position while you drive its lower rod segment through the retainer located on the Door Lock Actuator. To install the front door lock device you should first link the Door Lock Cylinder rod to the front Door Lock Cylinder followed by reinstalling the front door water deflector before putting back the front door trim panel. Examine if the door lock system operates correctly as the last step in the process.

Use a flat bladed tool to detach the rear compartment lid lock cable from the lock cylinder.

Raise the window to the full up position.
