    Q:
How to replace the exhaust pipe on 6.0L and 8.1L engines on Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
Engine replacement of exhaust manifold pipe for 6.0l and 8.1l engines demands vehicle support followed by transmission support with a proper jack. Drill the vehicle while removing both transmission mount to transmission support nuts then lift the transmission off its support point before removing transmission support crossmember bolts and associated crossmember. The procedure to replace the exhaust manifold pipe will require removal of the exhaust muffler nuts when working on one side but only loosening the Exhaust Pipe clamp when working on the other side. Detaching exhaust system hangers enables the separation of pipes. Place the exhaust on a jack stand while removing the clip that surrounds the engine harness and the Oxygen Sensor pigtail. Remove the Oxygen Sensor by first disconnecting both the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer along with the Oxygen Sensor electrical connector then remove the exhaust manifold pipe nuts and Oxygen Sensor. Lower the transmission with the jack then remove the exhaust manifold pipe while sliding the hanger out of the Exhaust Pipe hanger bracket before discarding the exhaust manifold pipe seal. The installation of an exhaust manifold pipe should be preceded by new pipe seal application to the manifold when using a 6.0l engine with rpo y91 option. Before inserting the Exhaust Pipe hanger into its bracket users should apply lubricant. Additional installation steps require another exhaust manifold pipe seal before placing the pipe itself. You should screw the exhaust manifold pipe nuts into position then apply 50 nm (39 ft. Lbs.) torque to them. Cock the transmission with a jack while applying anti-seize compound gm p/n 12377953 or equivalent to the Oxygen Sensor threads on the old device before installing it securely at 42 nm (31 ft. Lbs.). The replacement process requires connecting the Oxygen Sensor electrical connector as well as the cpa retainer together with placing the clip around the engine harness and Oxygen Sensor pigtail when the pipe replacement is not involved. The installation sequence includes fitting the Exhaust Pipe together with the catalytic converter and afterward mounting the exhaust hangers. The procedure requires installation of exhaust muffler nuts with 40 nm torque setting (30 ft. Lbs.) for one side but new Exhaust Pipe clamp installation with 44 nm torque setting (33 ft. Lbs.) for the other side. First put back the transmission support crossmember and its bolts while tightening them to 95 nm (70 ft. Lbs.). Position the transmission on the support after lowering it and attach the transmission mount to transmission support nuts then tighten these nuts to 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Finally lower the motor vehicle after taking off the transmission support.

    Q:
How to replace the right exhaust pipe on a 6.6L (LLY) engine on Chevrolet Silverado 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process of a 6.6l (LLY) engine right Exhaust Pipe begins by taking out the turbocharger Exhaust Pipe followed by proper bolt removal sequence from the Exhaust Pipe. Discard the Exhaust Pipe gaskets after pulling out the Exhaust Pipe together with its bracket along with its gaskets. Install the Exhaust Pipe near the turbocharger by fitting a new gasket while making sure its tab points toward the inside then lightly fasten the bolts. The Exhaust Pipe requires a new gasket for installation when placed against the Exhaust Manifold while the gasket tab should face outward before you install the bolts without full torque. Tighten the Exhaust Pipe bolts through the correct pattern until they reach 53 nm (39 ft. Lbs.) before removing the turbocharger Exhaust Pipe.

    Q:
How to replace the Exhaust Pipe on a 6.0L Cab/Chassis on GMC Sierra 3500 Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replacing an exhaust manifold pipe on a 6.0l cab/chassis starts with removing heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) then supporting the transmission with an appropriate transmission jack. Start by taking off the transmission mount to transmission support nuts before using the jack to lift the transmission off the transmission support. Separate the transmission support crossmember bolts and completely remove the crossmember from its position. The exhaust Muffler detachment from the exhaust manifold pipe starts with removing all exhaust nuts followed by the exhaust manifold pipe nuts. Lower the transmission with the jack while you detach all exhaust Muffler insulators needed before removing the exhaust manifold pipe. Remove the outdated exhaust manifold pipe gasket from service. Insert a new exhaust manifold pipe gasket onto the Muffler studs before installing the exhaust manifold pipe. Reinstall all necessary exhaust Muffler insulators before you slowly lift the transmission with the assistance of the jack. Properly install the exhaust manifold pipe onto its nuts while tightening to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) torque then follow with exhaust Muffler to exhaust manifold pipe nuts at a torque of 45 n.m (33 lb ft). Install the transmission support crossmember while torquing its bolts to 95 n.m (70 lb ft). The transmission support gets the mounted transmission while support nuts achieve 40 n.m torque (30 lb ft). The support from the transmission must be removed then install the ho2s back in place.
