To replace the Brake Disc, first lift and adequately support the vehicle. Take off the tire and wheel assembly by making sure you support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic's wire or equivalent if you pull it away from its mount while covering its hydraulic flexible brake hose as this helps to prevent damaging hose and brake fluid leakage. Then, take away the caliper from the mounting bracket again cushion with the heavy mechanic's wire; bear it in mind that when taking off the caliper from the bracket, do not cut off the hydraulic brake flexible hose. Move on to the removal of the wheel bearings and then the disc from the vehicle. If necessary, refinish the disc. Clean off any rust or corrosion at the disc to wheel mating face using the hub cleaning kit (J 42450-A) prior to reinstalling the disc onto the vehicle. Once the wheel bearings and seal are installed in place, it is suitable to install the brake caliper followed by the placement of the tire and assembly if it hasn't been done. Lastly, eliminate the safety stands, decrease the vehicle down, step the brake pedal down, and machine the brake discs and the brake pads at the front side.

Before you replace the Brake Disc on these models, remember to support the vehicle with proper stands after raising them. Remove the tire and wheel together, then get rid of the brake caliper before you take out the disc. Examine all the different parts and fix or change them if required. Start by attaching the disc to the hub and bearing and after that, reattach the brake caliper and tire and wheel assembly. Now, slowly lower the vehicle and also step on the brake.

You need to apply parking brake and block wheels of c3500hd before replacing its front Brake Disc. Position the vehicle on safety stands at its raised position before starting work. Pull out the tire and wheel before you detach the brake caliper and Brake Disc assembly. Use a socket to untighten bolts connecting the Brake Disc to the hub and free the disc from the hub. Lbs.) and apply threadlocker 272 gm p/n 12345493 through each bolt. Examine the Brake Disc post-installation for imbalances then clean both sides using brake parts cleaner p/n 12345754. Apply new wheel grease inside the grease cap after cleaning it properly and refrain from putting excessive grease inside. Put back the brake caliper and tire-wheels before lowering the vehicle. Do not drive the vehicle before you feel a strong brake pedal because driving with a weak pedal could harm you. Test the brake system after pumping the brake pedal and checking the brake fluid level to make sure the pedal feels firm and brake pads are correctly set before removing the blocks.

You must start any brake rotor repair by utilizing the Hub Cleaning Kit (J 42450-A) to clean the mating surfaces of rotor and flange to prevent brake pulsation and increased lateral runout that can occur from an improper cleaning process. Check the brake rotor thickness using a micrometer at its most narrow spot until reaching the minimum threshold since replacement becomes necessary at that point. The Rotor Resurfacing Kit (J 41013) allows users to clean rust thoroughly from the brake rotor flange before brake machining under the guidance of brake lathe manufacturer guidelines. The post-machining process requires you to develop a non-specific braking surface through work with 120-grit aluminum oxide sandpaper followed by application of a non-directional rotor finisher as long as it is available. Brake parts cleaner GM P/N 12377981 and equivalent products should be used for cleaning braking surfaces followed by wheel nut tightening to the recommended torque value for avoiding brake rotor damage.

The replacement process for brake discs starts with raising the vehicle on safety stands and removing the tire and wheel assembly. Strip the brake caliper and wheel bearings away before pulling out the disc from your vehicle. You should inspect all components and replace anything broken then refinish the disc as needed for replacement. Disc installation requires vehicles to receive discs first followed by wheel bearings and seals afterward Brake Calipers last before attaching tire and wheel assemblies. Lower the vehicle after safety stand removal to depress the brake pedal for burning the front brake discs and pads.

Use the Rotor Resurfacing Kit (J41013).

Clean the braking surfaces with GM P/N 12377981 or an equivalent brake parts cleaner.

Refinishing should be performed under specific conditions such as severe scoring of the rotor braking surface, brake pulsation due to excessive lateral runout or thickness variation, or corrosion deeper than the rotor surface.

Clean the grease cap or cover and coat the inside with new wheel grease without overfilling.

Clean the braking surfaces with GM P/N 12377981 or an equivalent brake parts cleaner to ensure optimal performance.

Remove the rotor from the vehicle.
