    How to replace the front wheel axle shaft on Buick Rendezvous? Posted by Customer

    To change the front wheel drive shaft, first raise and support the vehicle, next, remove the tire and the wheel assembly, engine splash shield, and finally stabilizer shaft link. Remove the front-wheel drive-shaft nut and exposing ramped 2-piece washer, making sure the ramped side faces each other when reinstalling. Disconnect the electrical connector from the Wheel Speed Sensor. Remove the brake rotor by using a drift or flat-bladed tool to keep the rotor from rotating while removing the wheel drive shaft nut. Take off the outer Tie Rod End from the Steering Knuckle but not loosening the Tie Rod End jam nut as well as disconnect the lower Ball Joint from the Steering Knuckle. Mount the Wheel Hub remover (J 42129) onto the Wheel Hub and bearing, tighten it by wheel nuts, removed the wheel drive shaft from the Wheel Hub using this tool. Assemble the slide hammer (J 2619-O1), Axle Shaft remover extension (J 29794), and Axle Shaft puller (J 33008-A) in order to remove the wheel drive shaft from the transaxle and remove all existing shaft from the vehicle throwing away retaining ring. For installation purposes, do not have the boots touching other parts, replace the wheel drive shaft retaining ring with a new one, and force the wheel drive shaft up the transaxle until the retaining ring is flush. Attach the wheel drive shaft to the Wheel Hub and bearing first, then attach the Ball Joint and outer Tie Rod End assembly to the Steering Knuckle. Before installing a new wheel drive shaft nut tighten to 260 nm (192 ft. Lbs.) install the ramped washer correctly oriented. And at last replace the stabilizer shaft link, join the electrical connector of the Wheel Speed Sensor, the engine splash shield, tire and wheel assembly, lower the vehicle and check the transaxle fluid level.
