Before you remove the old Rack And Pinion, raise and support the vehicle and then drain beneath the system to save the present used fluid. To remove the tire and wheel assembly, disconnect the intermediate shaft by the Rack And Pinion stub shaft, in so doing, the damage is avoided; adjust the Steering Shaft so the block tooth is located at the 12 o-clock position and with the wheels pointing straight forward and ignition switch in lock position. Do away with the middle Steering Shaft from the stub shaft and both link ends. Sustain the back of the wire framework with jackstands and eradicate the back construction screws from the back watchfully so as not to dump it excessively low in order to maintain such engine component integrity. Lower the rear of the frame and disconnect the power steering pressure line and return line from the Rack And Pinion. Then remove the Rack And Pinion mounting bolts and nuts, and pull out the Rack And Pinion through the left wheel opening. Install the clamp for the power steering lines, and then connect the power steering pressure line and return line to the Rack And Pinion. Lift up the frame and bolt in new rear frame bolts before taking off the jackstands. Replace the tie rod ends and make sure that the Steering Shaft is placed properly as before. Tighten the intermediate Steering Shaft to the stub shaft and draw it down on the lower pinch bolt at 47nm (35 ft. Lbs.). At last, reassemble the tire and wheel assembly, remove the drain pan, lower the vehicle, and fill the power steering system with fluid, bleed the air off the system, check for leaks, and get an alignment of the front end.
