Start brake hose replacement by securely lifting the vehicle and placing appropriate support underneath. Take the rear tire and wheel away to sweep any dirt from both brake parts. Put on a rubber seal to the brake pipe opening to block fluid leaks and outer contamination. Securely disconnect the brake hose fitting from the Brake Line with the back up wrench while protecting both elements from bending. Detach the hose bracket retainer before removing both the brake hose and its bracket. Take out the bolt on the caliper inlet and free the brake hose from the device. Discard the two copper gaskets found in the hose. To set up the new copper brake hose gaskets you must bolt them together with brake caliper inlet fitting and brake hose. Tighten the assembly to 45 nm (33 lb ft). Secure the brake hose to the brake caliper and verify that the attached portion does not have any bends or twists before fitting it into the hose bracket. Twist on the brake hose retainer followed by removing the rubber cover from the brake pipe joint. Apply a back up wrench to attach the brake pipe joint to the brake hose and tighten until it reaches 18 nm (13 lb ft). Put back the tire and wheel parts before conducting hydraulic brake system bleeding through normal procedures.

Use J 45405 Brake Pipe Flaring Kit along with protection methods from brake fluid irritants while using double-walled steel pipes to avoid brake system breakdown. Check the brake pipe location for replacement before freeing it from its retainers when needed. Choose a suitable location on the brake pipe that avoids bends and mounting points then measure the required section replacement length including 6.35 mm (0.250 in) for 4.76 mm (3/16 in) diameter pipe and 9.50 mm (0.374 in) for 6.35 mm (1/4 in) diameter pipe flare additions. Use the pipe cutter provided in J 45405 to cut your brake pipe square before you take out the sectioned pipe. Put on tube nuts of suitable size after removing nylon coating from the brake pipe end using provided J 45405 coating stripping tool and forming both inside and outside diameter with J 45405 deburring tool. Connect the tube nuts first before sterilizing the brake pipe and J 45405 from impurities. To flare the pipe you should loosen the screw and install both die halves. Push the prepared pipe end into the die cage while tightening the clamping screw and create the flare using the forming mandrel to check the diameter. The flare needs 6.74-7.10mm (0.265-0.279in) measurements for 4.76mm (3/16in) pipe or 8.57-9.27mm (0.344-0.358in) for 6.35mm (1/4in) pipe inputs. Use a brake pipe bending tool to shape the new part and connect it properly within its retainers. Afterward use the engine brake system to check for leaks caused by improper flaring.

To avoid brake system failure and maintain brake functionality use double-walled steel brake pipes and attach the new system according to original bolt placements. The replacement brake pipe must match the existing design and use components such as tube nuts and fittings that match specific sizes. First examine the replacement area of the brake pipe then free it from its retainers. After measuring total pipe length account for one 6.35 mm (.250 in) flare for each bend or fitting. Use the J 45405 pipe cutter to cut the brake line directly to its measured length. Take out the damaged section and get the required brake pipe elements including tube nuts. Use the right stripping blade from the J 45405 tool package to remove nylon coating until you reach the metal part of the brake pipe. Use the de-burring tool to chamfer both sides of the pipe then fasten the tube nuts onto it. Clean the brake pipe and tool of dust before loosening the clamping screw. Put die halves into the die cage and pass the ready pipe through the back opening. Verify the die position and tighten the clamping screw afterward. Adjust the hydraulic mandrel selection and close the valve before operating the J 45405 lever until the mandrel meets the tightening dies. After retraction open the valve to remove the dies and test the flare. The correct dimensions are 7.10 mm (0.279 in) exclusive of plus or minus 0.18 mm (0.007 in) for 4.76 mm (3/16 in) diameter tubing. You can modify the new pipe with a brake pipe bending tool while keeping a 19 mm (3/4 inch) safe distance from all moving parts. Connect the pipe with suitable joints then fixes it to retaining blocks while working through the hydraulic brake fluid process ending with an engine start and brake test.

Remove the brake caliper inlet fitting bolt from the caliper and detach the brake hose from the brake caliper, discarding the two copper brake hose gaskets.

Use new copper brake hose gaskets.

Raise and support the vehicle, then remove the rear tire and wheel assembly.

Measure the length of the pipe to be replaced, including bends, and add 6.35 mm (0.250 in) for flares for a 4.76 mm (3/16 in) diameter pipe.

Install the brake hose and bolt to the brake caliper, tightening the bolt to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).

Assemble it with two new brake hose fitting gaskets to the brake hose.

Install the pipe with the appropriate unions, secure it to the retainers, bleed the hydraulic brake system, and check for leaks with the engine running and brakes applied.
