    Q:
How to Replace a Power Steering Hose for Optimal Performance for Return Line on Chevrolet Camaro? Posted by Customer
    A:
The power steering return line replacement begins with placing drain pans underneath the vehicle at the steering gear and pump area before properly securing the vehicle at a safe height. Detach the power steering hoses at the inlet and outlet of the steering gear then lower down the vehicle. Begin by taking off the serpentine belt together with the power steering pump pulley. Detach the inlet hose fitting from the pump yet keep in mind to remove outlet hose and cooler hose from Power Steering Cooler when the vehicle has this feature (V8 only). Next remove the outlet hose from the reservoir while demonstrating the v8 version with cooler and the remote-mount reservoir fits the v6. The installation process requires the outlet hose to maintain a minimum 12 mm (0.47 inch) clearance between all components and prevents twisting of the outlet hose during the installation procedure. The first installation step requires connecting of the outlet hose to the reservoir (V8 with cooler displayed, V6 has remote reservoir). Next add the inlet hose fitting to the pump. After repairing the power steering pump pulley and serpentine belt reinstallation takes place. Following vehicle re-lifting install the inlet and outlet hoses (2, 3) to the steering gear while tightening the inlet hose to 28 nm (21 ft. Lbs.) and the outlet hose to 28 nm (21 ft. Lbs.). The drain pan should be placed below then the vehicle should lower before installation of new power steering system fluid and bleeding of the system.
