    Q:
How to replace the Power Steering Hose inlet and outlet on engines with 2.9L and 3.7L on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the replacement of power steering gear inlet and outlet hoses on llv and llr models with 2.9l and 3.7l engines by placing a drain pan underneath the vehicle. First disconnect the Power Steering Hose assembly from the Power Steering Pump before lifting up the vehicle with appropriate safety stands in place. Start by removing retaining bolts that secure both components of the Power Steering Hose assembly bracket then disconnect the retaining bolt connecting the hose assembly to the power steering gear. The Power Steering Hose assembly needs to come off from the power steering gear so technicians can clean both inlet and outlet ports to prevent power steering system element damage and contamination. The power steering gear must be detached from the car before using j 44586 to extract old oil seals. After cleaning the ports repeat the procedure to install new oil seals using j 44586. Secure the power steering gear by reattaching the Power Steering Hose assembly to its bolt and torque it to 12 nm (106 lb in). Proceed with attaching the Power Steering Pump hose by tightening it to 25 nm (18 lb ft) and lower the vehicle before securing the hose assembly retaining bolts to 9 nm (79 lb in). Drain the fluid from the pan before adding the correct amount to the Power Steering Pump reservoir while performing the power steering system bleed procedure.

    Q:
How to replace the Power Steering Hose for the gear inlet and outlet on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the replacement of the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose by positioning a drain pan beneath the vehicle. First disconnect the Power Steering Hose assembly from the Power Steering Pump then securely place safety stands under the vehicle before raising it upwards. First remove the Power Steering Hose assembly bracket retaining bolts then proceed to disconnect the retaining bolt between the Power Steering Hose assembly and power steering gear. The power steering gear hose should be disconnected from the steering gear followed by vehicle removal while cleaning both ports throughly to protect power steering system components from damage and contamination. The power steering gear oil seal remover/installer (J 44586) allows replacement of power steering gear oil seals when necessary and should be used to remove old oil seals from the power steering gear. Using j 44586 tool again install new oil seals into their appropriate positions by cleaning both inlet and outlet ports beforehand. After guiding the power steering gear into position you should connect its hose assembly to the bolt at the power steering gear then tighten the retaining bolt at 12 n.m (106 lb in). Install the Power Steering Hose assembly clip retaining bolts before tightening them to 9 n.m (79 lb in). To complete installation lower the vehicle stemming the Power Steering Pump connection through a 25 n.m (18 lb ft) torque force. To finish, drain the pan and add correct fluid to the reservoir before completing system bleeding.
