Tail Lamp Assembly, Passenger Side

The body wiring harness connector must be detached from the tail/back up lamp harness for this replacement work. Begin by removing the tail/back up lamp assembly from the rear compartment lid while you support it through the process of unplugging the tail/back up lamp harness grommet from the lid. Afterwards, take out the lamp completely from the vehicle. Support the tail/back up lamp assembly after installing the tail/back up lamp harness grommet to the rear compartment lid and securing the tail/back up lamp. Tighten fasteners that secure the tail/back up lamp assembly to its tail/back up lamp studs until they reach 6 N.m (53 lb in) according to the Fastener Notice. After securing the tail/back up lamp electrical connector together with its harness connector make sure to clip the connector to the metal edge of the rear compartment lid.

Detach the tail/back up lamp harness connector from the body wiring harness as the first step of lamp replacement. Support the rear compartment lid assembly when you remove the tail/back up lamp assembly before unplugging and removing the tail/back up lamp harness grommet from the lid and the tail/back up lamp from your vehicle. Insert the tail/back up lamp assembly first before installing the rear compartment lid tail/back up lamp harness grommet followed by the tail/back up lamp itself. Screw fasteners to the tail/back up lamp studs while making sure to tighten them to 6 N.m (53 lb in) according to the Fastener Notice. Use the tail/back up lamp electrical connector and the tail/back up lamp harness connector to follow installation steps which require clipping to the metal edge of the rear compartment lid.

Beginning any tail lamp replacement requires removing the rear compartment sill plate first. Tail lamp bulb replacement requires skipping directly to connect the lamp connector through the body when replacing only bulbs. Disconnect the tail lamp connector then push the grommet through the rear end panel. First disconnect the fasteners which secure the tail lamp assembly to the body before pulling out the tail lamp assembly. Turn the tail lamp socket in the opposite direction to uninstall it before fixing any failed bulbs. Begin tail lamp installation by checking the complete grommet positioning within the body rear end panel when bulb replacement was the only reason for removing the tail lamp. You should insert the tail lamp bulb into the tail lamp socket while aligning the socket's tabs with the tail lamp assembly notches before screwing the socket clockwise. Attach the tail lamp assembly to the body after fastening the components with 6 n.m (53 lb in) of torque. After connecting the tail lamp connector, reinstall the rear compartment sill plate.

The rear compartment sill plate must be removed before you tackle a tail lamp replacement. Substitute to following the tail lamp connector and grommet through the body when only the bulb needs replacement. First disconnect the tail lamp connector then push the grommet out of its position in the rear end panel. Detach the fasteners securing the tail lamp assembly to the body before removing the assembly. A counterclockwise twist motion of the tail lamp socket will let you detach it from its position while you replace defective bulbs if needed. Route the tail lamp connector and grommet through the body when the tail lamp removal was performed solely for bulb replacement. Position the grommet completely into the body rear end panel before putting the tail lamp bulb into the socket of the tail lamp. Secure the tail lamp socket by turning it clockwise until its tabs match the notches in the tail lamp assembly. Fasten the tail lamp assembly to the body while tightening the fasteners to 6 n.m (53 lb in). The final step requires a tail lamp connector connection followed by placing the rear compartment sill plate back into position.

Connect the tail/backup lamp electrical connector and the tail/backup lamp harness connector, ensuring to clip the connector to the metal edge of the rear compartment lid.

Replace any failed bulbs as necessary.
