    Q:
How to replace the intake manifold on Chevrolet Express 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
And to replace the Intake Manifold, after removing the Throttle Body and fuel injectors, you need to loosen the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor and Knock Sensor electrical connectors and Knock Sensor harness connector and lay it aside. Next, you will disconnect the electronic temperature control (ETC) connector along with the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose. You will also remove the MAP Sensor from the Intake Manifold. If necessary, the engine coolant air bleed clamp and hose should be removed from the Throttle Body. For the evaporative emission (EVAP) purge solenoid vent tube, unscrew the evap tube end from the soleniod and squeeze the evap pipe quick connect fitting retainer and unscrew the evap end tube from the vapor pipe. Next, after the purge solenoid bolt, solenoid, and isolator have been detached from the Intake Manifold, remove the Intake Manifold bolts and the Intake Manifold. Take off and remove the old Intake Manifold gaskets. To install, install new Intake Manifold gaskets on the Intake Manifold and the manifold. Fit a 5mm (0.20in) band of threadlock to Intake Manifold bolt threads and install them, tightening in conjunction with 5 n.m (44 lb in) for the initial pass and 10 n.m (89 lb in) for the final pass. Install evap purge solenoid , isolator and bolt at the Intake Manifold & tighten the bolt of solenoid to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Then reconnect the evap purge solenoid vent tube to the solenoid and vapor pipe, and if not applicable then install the engine coolant air bleed clamp and hose to the Throttle Body. Apply clean engine oil to the MAP Sensor seal when installing the MAP Sensor to the Intake Manifold, with the pcv hose following suit. Steering the Knock Sensor harness electrical connector with Intake Manifold and the MAP Sensor, knock sensor, and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve electrical connectors. Lastly, install the fuel injectors and the Throttle Body.

    Q:
How to replace the intake manifold on Chevrolet Silverado 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The repair process starts by taking out the Throttle Body and fuel injectors before disconnecting the MAP Sensor and Knock Sensor electrical connectors. Take the Knock Sensor harness connector off and place the electrical harness to the side. A vehicle with vacuum-assisted brakes requires removal of the vacuum brake booster hose from the Intake Manifold rear before disconnecting the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose. Detaching the MAP Sensor and evaporative emission (EVAP) purge solenoid vent tube starts by removing the tube from its connection with the solenoid and vapor pipe . Yearly maintenance involves cleaning of the Intake Manifold Gasket area using a brush to remove any dirt buildup between the gasket surface and the Intake Manifold wall. After cleaning, apply a thin coating of liquid gasket gm 10066689 (Canadian 10686719) around the opening of the Intake Manifold bolt threads. Install the Intake Manifold first followed by the evap purge solenoid , solenoid , and isolator . Next tighten all Intake Manifold bolts to a torque of 22 foot-pounds. First extract the Intake Manifold gaskets from the system then throw away the previous gaskets. When checking the Intake Manifold it needs cleaning so you should inspect it and then add new Intake Manifold gaskets and replace the Intake Manifold. Apply a 5 mm (0.20 inch) band of threadlock gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) to the threads of the Intake Manifold bolts, then tighten the bolts in sequence to 5 nm (44 inch lbs.) for the first pass and 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) for the final pass. Reinstall the evap purge solenoid , isolator , and bolt , tightening the bolt to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.)mount the solenoid for the evap purge system by connecting its vent tube to the solenoid body and vapor pipe. Before mounting the MAP Sensor onto the Intake Manifold apply a thin layer of clean engine oil to its seal. Then connect the MAP Sensor followed by the pcv hose and, if needed, the vacuum brake booster hose. Guide the electrical harness through the engine space before joining the Knock Sensor harness with the MAP Sensor and Knock Sensor wires. Reinstall the fuel injectors together with the Throttle Body unit.
