    Q:
How to replace the front disc brake pads on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before starting the disc Brake Pad replacement work test your brake master cylinder brake fluid level. If fluid is above the mark between the highest and lowest permitted limits drain enough fluid to reach the midpoint. Lift up the vehicle to gain access while you take out the tire and wheel as a unit. Secure two nuts by hand to wheel studs across opposite ends of the rotor to keep it fixed to the hub. Set aside the brake caliper guide pin bolt then secure the brake caliper safely with mechanic wire to prevent hydraulic hose damage. Lift the caliper up without detaching the hose and position it into place. Insert the old inner disc Brake Pad and disc brake piston tool into the caliper bore to push the piston back into the caliper before removing both brake pads from the mounting bracket. Suck off Brake Pad retainers from the caliper bracket and scrape all debris off both parts before cleaning. Check guide pin movement and examine guide pin boots for problems. Replace boots when necessary. Install the Brake Pad retainers onto the caliper bracket but ensure that you position the brake pads correctly as you mount them first. Keep the sensor-equipped disc Brake Pad inside the rotor facing toward the rotor. Position the brake caliper onto the pads and mounting bracket after installing the pads directly onto the caliper bracket and removing the support. Connect the lower brake caliper guide pin bolt and tighten it to 35 n.m (26 lb ft). Reposition the brake rotor by removing its wheel nuts from the hub before installing a new tire and wheel set. Lower the vehicle afterward. Shift the engine centerline to off position while gently pushing the brake pedal until you reach two-thirds of its ability then return it to its original position. Hold the brake pedal down for a short time and pump it back to secure the brake caliper against the pads. Finish by putting brake fluid into the auxiliary reservoir before ending the process with pad and rotor burns.

    Q:
How to replace the rear disc brake pads on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin by checking the level of the brake master cylinder reservoir; if the level fall between the maximum and minimum points, there is no need to take out any fluid out. Raise and support the vehicle, remove the tire and the wheel assembly. The large c-clamp compresses the caliper piston into the caliper bore, but make sure you do not exceed 1mm (0.039 in) of piston travel lest you create a compromise to the internal adjusting mechanism. After the compressing the piston, off the c-clamp, as well as the lower brake caliper guide pin bolt, while supporting the brake caliper with a heavy mechanic wire to avoid straining the hydraulic flexible brake hose. Rotate the caliper upside and pull out the brake pads and Brake Pad retainers from the brake caliper mounting bracket . Check the components of the brakes for worn and corroded components and replace the damaged parts. Inspect the Brake Caliper Piston boot for wear and replace if it appears to be worn. Twist the Brake Caliper Piston into the bore using a piston installation tool; install Brake Pad retainers and brake pads on to the mounting bracket. Put the brake caliper in the direction over the brakes and into the caliper bracket, install the brake caliper guide pin bolt and tighten it to 35 nm (26 lb ft). Replace the tire and wheel assembly, lower the vehicle and slowly press the brake pedal about 2/3 of its way, then release. With the engine off, do this. Do this for as many times as it takes to obtain a firm pedal that should properly seat the caliper pistons and brake pads. Finally, top up the brake master cylinder reservoir to the right level, apply and release the park brake lever four times, and burnish the pads and rotors.
