    Q:
How to Replace or Repair a Rear Fascia Emblem on Buick Century? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before working on a Buick rear fascia emblem/nameplate you need to apply tape to prevent damage while setting up installation marks. Use a Heat Gun model J 25070 to warm the emblem/nameplate by moving the gun in circles for 30 seconds. You should use a plastic tool to lift off the emblem/nameplate when removing it from the panel surface to avoid paint damage. Clean neither the panel surface nor the molding tape with adhesive remover and a pad after removing the damaged tape from either part. Replace the tape when your work continues. Press the adhesive foam tape onto the back of the emblem/nameplate before fitting it to the proper spot. You need the 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk P/N 07501 to remove adhesive from body panels while using a lint-free cloth soaked with VMP naphtha or a 50/50 isopropyl alcohol mixture for plastic panels. Thoroughly wipe the installation region with a lint-free cloth and VMP naphtha or alcohol-water solution before drying it properly to prepare the space free from dust. Mark tape placement spots when no original locations are given. Apply proper temperatures of 27-41°C (80-105°F) to the mounting surface and keep the emblem/nameplate at 29-32°C (85-90°F). Put the emblem/nameplate on the mounting surface at the marked spots and push it tightly by giving it equal pressure all over. After placing the emblem/nameplate on the right spot, peel off the protective tape from the surface.
