    Q:
How to replace the power vacuum brake booster on Chevrolet HHR? Posted by Customer
    A:
You must disconnect the battery negative cable before replacing the power vacuum Brake Booster. Pedal the brake until the Brake Booster creates no more vacuum and then releases it. Pull out the vacuum power brake sensor electrical connector when available before taking out the vacuum power brake check valve assembly from its Brake Booster grommet. Shift the electrical center and powertrain control modules without breaking wire connections before taking out the underhood electrical center bracket. Unplug the brake fluid level indicator switch and remove the master cylinder nuts while easily decoupling the Clutch Master Cylinder hose. Seal the hose outlets to prevent fluid leakage during the replacement. Support the master cylinder with mechanics wire before disconnecting its brake fittings. After you remove the i/p insulator take out the brake pedal Pushrod nut and washer to disassemble the Pushrod from its mounting pin. Take off the bracket nuts of the vacuum Brake Booster and its power section together with its gasket. Also check for any harm to the gasket. Fit the power brake vacuum booster onto the newly installed gasket and bolt it tightly at 22 nm (16 lb ft). The Pushrod receives high temperature grease gm p/n 12345996 (Canadian P/N 10953501) on its pin before being connected to the pivot pin. Install the washer and nut, tightening them to 10 nm (89 lb in). Check and install the i/p insulator before examining the master cylinder seal for installation damage including seating. Place the master cylinder over the power vacuum booster and attach the clutch hose fast connection before tightening the master cylinder nuts to 16 lbft (22 Nm). Attach the vacuum power Brake Booster check valve and hose assembly to the Brake Booster hole while using denatured alcohol when needed during assembly. Connect the power Brake Booster electrical vacuum sensor to power up the system when needed before joining the brake fluid level indicator electrical connector. Put the electrical center modules into place on the underhood electrical bracket before installing the bracket and reconnecting the battery negative cord.
