Service of the air pump requires starting with brace removal from the fender and cowl followed by disconnecting power connections from the air pump, solenoid valve, and Relay. First remove the hose clamp which exists on the shut-off valve hose before you detach that hose from the shut-off valve. Start the air pump assembly removal by extracting the vacuum line from the solenoid valve followed by the assembly hold-down bolt and the block. Lift off the rubber mounting posts attached to the air pump while pulling all present hoses (3,14) out of the pump. After attaching the rubber mounting posts to the air pump the installation sequence includes connecting hoses (3 and 14) to the air pump. Position first the air pump assembly into the vehicle then attach the assembly hold-down block together with bolt while tightening the bolt to 25.0 n.m (18 lb ft). Fasten the hose to the shut-off valve by using a hose clamp. Refit the electrical connector onto the air pump and solenoid valve assembly and Relay unit after which you must attach the vacuum line diagnostic trouble code (DTC) to the solenoid valve. Reinstall the brace on the fender and cowl before validating system operation.

Before servicing and repairing the Air Injection Pump, one has to first disconnect the Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump harness connector from the AIR output hoses, from the AIR valve. After that, disassemble the pump from the mounting plate by detaching the bolt of the pump and removing the pump. For the installation, first install the AIR pump ensuring you ve followed the precautions as stipulated in the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Then install the AIR pump mounting bolt and torque it to 17 N.m (13 lb ft). Lastly, connect the AIR pump harness connector and the AIR pump output hose to the AIR valve.

Connector disconnection of the AIR pump harness plus AIR output hose detachment from the AIR valve initiates the service process for the Air Injection Pump. The first step requires removal of the bolt which supports the pump to the mounting plate until you can extract the pump. Installation of the AIR pump must start by following the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions before securely mounting the AIR pump. The AIR pump mounting bolt installation should be followed by tightening it to 17 N.m (13 lb ft). The installation process ends with connecting the AIR pump harness connector and AIR pump output hose to the AIR valve.

The first step of repairing the Air Injection Pump starts by raising the vehicle. ND vehicles do not need to detach the steering linkage shield or AIR injection reactor pipe assembly but 4WD vehicles can skip the removal of the AIR shield and the AIR injection reactor pump hose. Start the procedure by unbolting the AIR shield then taking out the shield. The next step requires removing retaining bolts from the steering linkage shield followed by its subsequent removal. To process the AIR injection reactor pipe assembly from the pump assembly the first step should be to soften the spring clamp then to detach the pipe assembly. Subsequently loosen the spring clamp to remove the AIR injection reactor pump hose from the pump assembly. Before removing the AIR pump disengage its electrical connectors followed by removing the mounting bolts of the pump and AIR pump itself. Position the AIR pump bracket over the mounting holes before screwing its mounting bolts to 17 N.m (13 lb ft). Begin by connecting the AIR pump and solenoid electrical connectors followed by installing the hose clamp onto the AIR injection reactor pump hose which should connect to the pump assembly. After that, install the hose clamp onto the AIR injection reactor pipe assembly to fit it onto the pump assembly. A 2WD vehicle does not require the AIR shield and steering linkage shield whereas a 4WD vehicle omits both the AIR injection reactor pipe assembly and its pump hose. Position the AIR shield properly before mounting the bolts while tightening them to reach 33 N.m (24 lb ft). The steering linkage shield requires alignment before mounting the bolts which need to be tightened to 33 N.m (24 lb ft). Finally, lower the vehicle.

The first step to replace the secondary air injection (AIR) pump involves disconnecting two components namely the AIR pump harness connector and the AIR output hose from the AIR valve. The pump installation begins by removing its mounting plate bolt. Then take out the pump from its position. The starting point for replacement involves installing the AIR pump according to the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. After mounting the AIR pump the mounting bolt requires tightening to 17 N.m (13 lb ft). To finish the installation process connect the AIR pump harness connector with the AIR output hose to the AIR valve.

The air injection pump servicing process starts by disconnecting all electrical connectors from the air pump together with the solenoid valve and Relay then removing the brace from the tender and cowl. The servicing of the air injection pump begins by removing the hose clamp from the shut-off valve hose then disconnecting the hose from the shut-off valve. Start by detaching the vacuum line from the solenoid valve followed by removal of the assembly hold-down bolt and then the block to remove the air pump assembly . Remove the rubber mounting posts from the air pump by releasing them before you disconnect the hoses (3,14) from the pump assembly and finally remove the pump itself from the place. To install the air pump position it on the rubber mounting posts while hooking up hoses (3,14) to the pump. Place the air pump assembly inside the vehicle then install the assembly hold-down block along with bolt which requires a torque of 25.0 n.m (18 lb ft). Fix the hose to the shut-off valve and fasten it with a hose clamp. Reestablish power flow through the electrical connector to the air pump as well as the solenoid valve and Relay before attaching the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) vacuum line to the solenoid valve. Close with step the brace installation to both fender and cowl before inspecting system operation.
