    Q:
How to replace the door emblem/nameplate on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
To change the door emblem/nameplate on Canyon, one should collect the required instruments: Heat Gun (J 25070) and 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover (3M(TM) P/N 07501). Start by using tape along the door emblem to protect and align. Use the Heat Gun (J 25070) from a distance of 152 (6 in) to heat the emblem/nameplate in circular motion around for approximately 30 seconds. Gently pry off the emblem/nameplate using a plastic, flat-bladed tool and wipe any adhesive residue from the door panel and back of the emblem/nameplate with the 3M adhesive remover. Clean the door surface with varnish makers and painters (VMP) naptha. In case it is not marked where to place it, cover with tape and lay down 251 mm (9.88 in) below on the door and 157 mm (6.18 in) at the forehead of the door to make sure it is placed correctly. Open the adhesive backing of the emblem/nameplate using the Heat Gun (J 25070) and warm the door surface to a minimum 21°C (70°F), while never touching the adhesive backing of the emblem/nameplate. Carefully remove the backing from the front end of the emblem/nameplate and press it onto the door panel until you can take off the backing while pressing the emblem/nameplate onto the door panel. Roll the emblem/name plate manually to ensure its proper adhesion and inspect it to see if it's bonded before lifting off the tape from the area around the door emblem.

    Q:
How to replace the front side door emblem/nameplate on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
To update the front side door emblem/nameplate on a Canyon start by placing tape around the affected region for precision. Heat the emblem/nameplate with a J 25070 gun at 152 mm (6 inches) distance for 30 seconds in circular motions. Dislodge the emblem/nameplate gently with plastic and flat-blade tool to safeguard the paint surface. Clean the door panel and emblem back with the 3M molding adhesive remover 3M P/N 07501 pad until the surface is free of dirt. Afterwards drop the door panel surface using VMP naphtha to prepare for placement. Use tape to mark the position and measure 9.9 inches up from bottom edge and 6.18 inches from door front to place the emblem/nameplate at front. Set the J 25070 heat gun to heat the door panel to at least 21°C (70°F), after that take off the adhesive backing at the front end of the emblem/nameplate without touching the adhesive. Put the emblem/nameplate onto the panel and keep removing the backing paper. Roll it by hand to stick well and check contact before taking off the tape from around the door emblem.

    Q:
How to replace or repair an emblem/nameplate on GMC Jimmy? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step is to place tape over the mounting area to protect it plus use tape markings for proper placement during installation. Heat the emblem/nameplate using a J 25070 Heat Gun (J 25070) in circular motions for 30 seconds until it can be lifted off using J 41409 Body Molding Removal Tool (J 41409). Leave adhesive tape on both surfaces when it does not free itself easily. Clean both surfaces using suitable adhesive cleaner and a lint-free cloth. Go ahead with the replacement when you find the tape has been compromised. Press the adhesive foam tape onto the back of the emblem/nameplate and fix it onto its surface. To secure body panels against fouling use 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) and for plastic use VMP naphtha or 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water on a lint-free cloth. After cleaning the area with the solution wipe it dry then mark the site using tape only when needed. Place the emblem/nameplate on a surface heated to 80 to 105°F with the part at 85 to 90°F. Align the emblem/nameplate to manufacturing marks first and then firmly press it onto the mounting surface until it forms a secure bond throughout the surface. Take off the protective tape from the surface where you want to mount the item.

    Q:
How to replace or repair an emblem/nameplate on GMC Sonoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before installation you should apply tape to shields and use more tape for accurate placement. Use a J 25070 Heat Gun (J 25070) to heat the emblem/nameplate in circular motions for 30 seconds before pulling it from the panel using J 41409 Body Molding Removal Tool. When the tape stays on the panel surface do not touch it; use adhesive cleaner to remove tape from both surfaces and wipe with a clean lint-free cloth. Begin the replacement process when the tape cannot be used anymore. Place adhesive foam tape on the new emblem/nameplate backside and fix it onto the location. Use 3M(TM) Scotch Brite Molding Adhesive Remover Disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) on body panels or wipe plastic panels with Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha or a 50/50 alcohol and water solution on a lint-free cloth. Put the new emblem/nameplate in place by installing it in a clean dust-free environment. Prepare the spot for mounting with a lint-free cloth soaking the same cleaning solution and afterward let it dry completely. Place tape markers over the surface if you have no reference point. Heat the mounting surface between 80 and 105 degrees Fahrenheit while maintaining the emblem/nameplate temperature at 85 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Stick the emblem/nameplate to its marked position by pushing it directly on the heating surface with an even force. Take off the protective masking tape from the surface area.
