How to replace the front side door emblem/nameplate on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
You need specific tools to replace the Canyon front side door emblem/nameplate including The work requires both Heat Gun (J 25070) and 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501). Heat Gun (J 25070) and 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501). Protect your door emblem with tape while positioning for alignment before you start. Heat the emblem/nameplate using the Heat Gun (J 25070) over a 152 mm (6 in) radius for 30 seconds to allow for circular movement. A plastic flat-blade tool should be used to remove the emblem/nameplate before finishing the removal with a mold release solvent to clean both sides. Varnish makers and painters (VMP) naphtha is used for cleaning the door surface. Use tape to identify an unmarked emblem/nameplate location then measure 251 mm (9.88 in) from the bottom edge of the door and 157 mm (6.18 in) from the front of the door to create correct placement. Begin heating the door surface with the Heat Gun (J 25070) until it reaches at least 21°C (70°F) but avoid letting the heated area touch the emblem's backing adhesive. Inside the door panel locate the front section of the emblem/nameplate and smooth it there while you remove the remaining backing from the rear end. Hand roll the emblem/nameplate while checking adhesion before removing tape from the space surrounding the door emblem.

How to replace the endgate emblem/nameplate on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin by getting your tools for this task which are a heat gun model J 25070 and 3M scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (Part 3M P/N 07501). Apply border tape first to shield and keep the tailgate emblem in position. Set theHeat Gun (J 25070) 152mm (6in) away from the surface and apply its heat in circular motions to the emblem/nameplate for 30 seconds. Use a plastic tool to extract the emblem/nameplate from its current position while holding the 3M(TM) adhesive remover against both sides of the emblem and tailgate. Wipe the tailgate surface with varnish makers and painters (VMP) naptha. Set tape on surface to measure four dimensions if the emblem location needs precise placement. The measurements are 59.5 mm from tailgate edge to emblem at Dimension a, 12.1 mm from tailgate bottom to emblem at Dimension b, 5.1 mm from tailgate bottom to emblem at Dimension c, and 59.4 mm from tailgate edge to emblem at Dimension d. Preheat the tailgate with the Heat Gun (J 25070) to 21°C (70°F) surface temperature to avoid damaging the emblem/nameplate adhesive backing. Press the emblem/nameplate front side onto the tailgate with care as you open its backing to attach it permanently. Press and roll the emblem/nameplate on the tailgate to create a strong connection then check if the parts stick together before removing the tape around them.
