    Q:
How to replace the emblem/nameplate on the rear compartment lid on Chevrolet Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
To install the nameplate and emblem go through this process you need a Heat Gun model (J 25070) & 3M(TM) P/N 07501. Use tape to shield the mounting area and draw installation marks at the start of the process. Place the Heat Gun nozzle 152mm (6in) from the surface at a circular motion to heat the emblem/nameplate for 30 seconds. A flat plastic tool helps you take the emblem/nameplate off from its panel. Clean body panels requires the 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk (P/N 07501) but use a VMP naptha dipped cloth or 50/50 isopropanol water mix for plastic panels. Use the same lint-free cloth with solution to clean the installation area until it becomes dry. When the install marks are missing place surface tape and install following CHEVY BOW TIE, V6, and MALIBU LS emblem or nameplate sizes. Heat the mounting surface to 80-105°F using a Heat Gun (J 25070) when necessary until it reaches 85-90°F and maintain this temperature range for the emblem/nameplate. You need to place the emblem/nameplate onto the marked spot by carefully removing its protective liner and sticking it down firmly with uniform pressure. To finish apply the protective tape from the mounting surface.

    Q:
How to replace the emblem/nameplate on the rear compartment lid on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before you put on the back lid nameplate cover you need to shield the bottom surface and pencil installation points. Heat the Emblem/nameplate using the heat gun (J 25070) in circular movement for 30 seconds at a 152 mm (6 inch) distance from the surface. You can safely take out the Emblem/nameplate with a plastic tool when heated. Body panels need the 3m(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (parts number 07501) for removal while plastic panels require a lint-free cloth with vmp naptha or isopropyl alcohol and water mixture in equal parts for cleaning. Wipe the installation region with the same cloth and wiping liquid before complete drying. If the Emblem/nameplate location is unmarked, apply tape and use specified dimensions for proper placement: for the chevy bow tie Emblem, center it on the rear compartment lid with dimension (A) at 192 mm (7.560 in) from the bottom; for the v6 Emblem, place it with dimension (a) at 20 mm (0.780 in) from the left edge and dimension (b) at 27 mm (1.062 in) from the tail lamp; for the malibu ls Emblem, position it with dimension (a) at 38 mm (1.500 in) from the left edge, dimension (b) at 17 mm (0.670 in) between the malibu and ls emblems, and dimension (c) at 29 mm (1.141 in) from the tail lamp. Use the heat gun (J 25070) to warm the surface up to 80-105°f while making sure the Emblem/nameplate reaches 85-90°f temperatures. Carefully place the Emblem/nameplate without touching its adhesive and apply it to the correct spot on the surface using equal force until the adhesive bonds then peel off protective tape.
