    Q:
How to replace the steering linkage inner tie rod on Buick Enclave? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first task in replacing a steering linkage inner Tie Rod requires removing the power steering gear as well as the power steering gear boot from the vehicle. Before moving the inner Tie Rod install the power steering gear into a vise to prevent any unintended damage to its preload adjustment. The inner Tie Rod wrench (J 34028) can be used to rotate the steering linkage inner Tie Rod housing counterclockwise when holding the power steering gear rack stationary until separation occurs. Repetition of this procedure should happen to the second inner Tie Rod housing. Steering linkage inner Tie Rod thread as well as power steering gear rack threads need loctite(R) removal if existing material remains. Place the shock dampener forward onto the power steering gear rack after cleaning the threads properly to apply loctite(R) 262 or equivalent to the steering linkage inner Tie Rod threads when required. Use a pipe wrench to stabilize the rack while applying the inner Tie Rod wrench (J 34028) to tighten the housing to 100 n.m (74 lb ft). This action takes place at the attachment point of the steering linkage inner Tie Rod to the power steering gear rack. Terminate the procedure on the second inner Tie Rod with proper staking of connections. Inspection of the stakes requires a 0.25 mm gage before installing the shock dampener onto the steering linkage inner Tie Rod housing and then reinstalling the power steering gear boot together with the power steering gear onto the vehicle.

    Q:
How to replace the steering linkage inner tie rod on Chevrolet Traverse? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before installing a new steering linkage inner Tie Rod you must take out both the power steering gear from the vehicle along with its power steering gear boot. Proceed with the replacement task without disturbance after checking the inner Tie Rod for corrosion or contamination. Position the power steering gear in a vise to avoid changing its preload adjustment. Place the steering linkage shock damper onto the power steering gear before sliding it toward the power steering gear rack. Apply a pipe wrench to the power steering gear rack while using a wrench on the flats of the steering linkage inner Tie Rod housing then turn it counterclockwise until separation occurs from the power steering gear rack. Perform the procedure again on the steering linkage inner Tie Rod housing then clean its threads before installing loctite(R) 262 or its equivalent product if needed. Use the j 34028 inner Tie Rod wrench to tighten the steering linkage inner Tie Rod onto the power steering gear rack to 100 nm (74 lb ft). Check the connection fit with 0.25 mm gage when possible before staking when needed. Conclude this process by placing the shock dampener over the steering linkage inner Tie Rod housing followed by power steering gear boot installation then putting back the power steering gear to its original position on the vehicle.

    Q:
How to replace the steering linkage inner tie rod on GMC Acadia? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the steering linkage inner Tie Rod requires removing the power steering gear from the vehicle followed by removing the power steering gear boot. Flexible positioning of the power steering gear in a vise will install the steering gear without altering its preload adjustment so the gear remains intact. The shock dampener should be extracted using the j 34028 inner Tie Rod wrench (J 34028) before sliding it onto the power steering gear. Secure the power steering gear rack with a pipe wrench next to the inner Tie Rod housing and match it with a wrench on the flats of the housing to twist it counterwise until separation occurs. The same procedure must be repeated when dealing with the shock dampener and the steering linkage inner Tie Rod housing. The steering linkage inner Tie Rod and power steering gear rack should have their existing loctite(R) removed before continuation of the process. To assemble the power steering system apply the shock dampener to the power steering gear rack by cleaning its threads before treating them with loctite(R) 262 or equivalent if using a female power steering gear rack and a male steering linkage inner Tie Rod . After installation of the inner Tie Rod to the power steering gear rack apply a pipe wrench in combination with j 34028 inner Tie Rod wrench (J 34028) to secure the housing at 100 n.m (74 lb ft) torque. The procedure must be repeated for the second inner Tie Rod until it reaches the correct staking level determined by the power steering gear rack and inner Tie Rod configuration. Using a 0.25 mm gage to check the stakes should be followed by installing the power steering gear boot and sliding the shock dampener over the housing before reinstalling the power steering gear to its place on the vehicle.
