Start by opening the car door and then taking out the carpet retainer before proceeding to replace the front door weather strip. Take the weather strip out from its retainer positioning. Soak the pinch-weld flange with a soap/water solution covering all spots except the B-pillar region when you install the weather strip. Check the paint dot on the weather strip located at the windshield pillar base because it identifies right-hand side (blue) from left-hand side (pink). You should identify the upper-rear mitered corner of the door opening and the weather strip portion between this corner and the roof rail and A-pillar as well as the piece that extends from the front of the weather strip to the lower A-pillar. The sheet metal trim line of the quarter panel should be positioned using pink or blue paint dots. Start by looping the weather strip between the B-pillar and the hinge pillar while pointing it forward. Begin at the windshield pillar base and work both up to the upper rear corner before moving down from the B-pillar corner to the windshield pillar base. Use firm pressure to attach the weather strip onto the pinch weld flange while making sure it fully sinks into place at the corners and thick pinch weld areas. The final step involves checking weather strip fit in the door opening before installing the carpet retainer followed by door closure.

A person must first remove the carpet retainer before replacing the front door weather strip. You should start removing the weather strip at its bottom joint on the door opening while pulling it away from the flange before moving to the rest of the door opening. Keep pulling the weather strip on all sides until it comes off entirely. One paint dot on the weather strip marks the beginning point for installing the RH strip but the LH strip starts at the position of two paint dots. Install the paint dot near the top of the center pillar before you attach the weather strip to the door opening flange while moving toward the bottom and verifying the carrier rests fully in each corner. The weather strip installation along the roof rail and front body hinge pillar flange commences from the center pillar corner where you should ensure complete carrier contact with the corners while proceeding forward. Wet your palm or obtain a rubber mallet to push down on the weather strip until it perfectly sets onto the entire door opening flange. You can place the interior trim closeout lip either with a plastic trim stick or a suitable alternative tool or by pulling the string from under the new weather strip's closeout lip. Finally, reinstall the carpet retainer.

Begin at the joint at the bottom of the door opening and pull the weatherstrip away from the door opening flange, working around the entire door opening to remove it.

Position the paint dot in the upper corner of the center pillar.

First, remove the carpet retainer.

Position it to the B-pillar, starting at the top of the auxiliary strip.

The mitered corner at the upper rear of the door opening, the upper weatherstrip to the bend at the roof rail and A-pillar, and the forward portion of the weatherstrip to the lower A-pillar.

Take out the window inner belt sealing strip.

The mitered corner, the upper weatherstrip to the bend at the roof rail and A-pillar, and the forward portion of the weatherstrip to the lower A-pillar.

Begin at the rear upper corner of the door opening and pull the weatherstrip away from the door opening flange, working around the door opening to completely remove it.

Open the rear compartment lid and remove the rear compartment sill plate.

Ensure the carrier is fully seated in the corners as you work downward along the front edge.

From the center pillar working forward, install the weatherstrip along the roof rail and window-pillar flange, again ensuring the carrier is fully seated in the corners.

Mark the position of the weatherstrip seam to the channel for installation.

Use a rubber mallet to ensure the weatherstrip is seated on the entire door opening flange.

Ensure the rubber side of the weatherstrip is outboard of the car.

Continue by engaging the remaining portion to the door pinch-weld flange down to the door depression.

Ensure the carrier is fully seated in the corners as you work downward along the front edge.

Position the new weatherstrip over the top of the rear compartment pinch-weld flange and press it down onto the flange, ensuring it is secured properly along the entire length.

Working rearward from the mirror patch, seat the inboard lip of the weatherstrip into the door channel and roll the outboard lip into place, ensuring that the weatherstrip does not extend past the end of the channel and working any excess back into the channel.

Position the new weatherstrip over the top of the rear compartment pinch-weld flange and press it down onto the flange, ensuring it is secured properly along the entire length.

Use a plastic trim stick or equivalent to position the close out lip over the interior trim around the door opening, or utilize the pull-string under the close out lip of the new weatherstrip.

Position the locator into the upper corner of the windshield pillar.

Use a rubber mallet to ensure the weatherstrip is seated on the entire door opening flange.

Begin at the rear upper corner of the door opening and pull the weatherstrip away from the door opening flange, continuing around the door opening until it is completely removed.

Begin at the joint at the bottom of the door opening and pull the weatherstrip away from the pinch weld flange, working around the door opening until it is completely removed.

Work rearward to install the weatherstrip along the roof rail and body lock pillar flange, again ensuring the carrier is fully seated in the corners.

Position the notch in the weatherstrip at the top of the division post.

Position the weatherstrip in the upper corner of the center pillar with the rubber side facing outboard of the car.

Open the door and use the Door Trim Pad Clip Remover (J 38778) to remove the retainers around the lower portion of the door, followed by the single retainer at the upper, rear corner of the door pillar.
